What do we have locally?

This model I think is the one I saw at Panda today.

There was another model but I didn't have a cam to take pictures. It's cheaper than this Jackson and both are made in China.

They are local manufacturers of PPE's. I was able to get quote from them regarding special safety equipment such as spill kits and emergency eyewasher/showers. i think they have such products.

V. Glad to know you're into welding also. Sometimes you can marry wood and metal too ... 🙂

I've been looking for the past months for an Auto Darkening Helmet. I even checked those from Hobart and Miller from the US. Haven't actually gotten to order yet but I had a few models in mind already.

However on my last visit to one of the favorite industrial suppliers I came to know that they now have ADH. This changed all my buying equations because here is a local supplier that I have dealt with and somebody that can be trusted ( warranty, spares etc.. ). They sell reliable tools and I'm sure they had taken the time to choose which ADH they will sell.

They have 2 models available. The Jackson I posted above which I believe is 5,500 pesos and another Generic one for 3,500 pesos. ( Best to re check prices again with them as I'm not 100% sure as of now). All Chinese made.

One of the most important aspect to check with ADH is the switching speed of the Lens from light to dark. The Generic one seems to be better at 1/30,000 sec compared to the Jackson.

Both seems to be reasonably well built and I'm currently leaning on the Generic one.

ADH helmets have advantages because one can see the start point of the weld with the hood down even before the arc is started. Some say it even gives a better view of the weld puddle during welding.

Needless to say the right ADH is a good investment for somebody learning how to weld or is already welding.

We hope other members will chime in too about Auto Darkening Helmets.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

I recently saw an ADH worth P2000 and it's their cheapest. Try visiting them at toolec dot com for their displays. i buy my mig consumables there - A1 quality. They have everything with regards to welding just name it - well except gas..:( Been drooling to get my hands on one of their "BEST" ADH if only i have an extra penny more to spare!..maybe sometime lol!!

You mean to say the Miller and Victor seller near Eastwood City?

Did you happen to see if they have Miller ADH now? The last time I visited them was months ago already when I had my Victor Oxygen regulator fixed. They had no ADH on display that time.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

its VERY MUCH helpful to beginner welders
you can learn faster with these on

do take note that most of these are battery powered (some solar powered)

compared to ordinary dark glasses that just dims everything, this actually adjust the amount of light that passes through its glass and in a very short amount of time thus before welding you can really set the area and start at once without removing or opening the welding helmet or dark glass
