Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Balik lang ako sa Powercraft ADH ko, when I received it, ni wala etong protective styrofoam sa loob, ganyan ba talaga yan o sa mga china made lang. Wala ring warranty card nor particular maker indicated, except made in PROC. May serial no. naman yung Filter unit at sabi 6 years daw ang battery life.

Generic talaga, pag busted na yung power supply, the filter unit can be replaced daw with no worry if powercraft ang brand o hindi. Palagay ko yang powercraft is not really a duly registerd brand, gawa-gawa lang to for convenience.

Pero ha, gumagana naman. Dati me pinagpastasyahan ako 3M speedglas pero 16k ang presyo kaya nag-alangan ako.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Bro may i suggest you visit t. Alonzo next time you purchase your tools/equipment. That way you can hold and test the item first and do some comparison before you buy.
My powercraft adh has no foam or any packaging materials except for a plastic bag that held the adh itself, manual, spare filter and the carton box that held all of them in. From most of the china made adh i saw in binondo and in other shops... they're all packaged the same way as you described your adh... so dont worry... yours is the same as most of us here.

Finally... bro dont worry too much on the warranty and what have you and just start using and enjoying your adh... not unless you're just into collecting stuff... if so then i suggest you buy those hi end products and veer away from china made ones... 😀

The Speeglas helmet itself is only around $50. The lens is the very expensive part. I had chance to use both a Generic and a Speedglas 9002X ADH. The difference is like night and day. Welding with a Speedglas 9002X is like viewing your work on a HD monochrome green monitor. Knowing what I know now I can say that the higher end ADH are expensive for a good reason. These would work very well with detailed and even low amp TIG welding. I find the Generic one is just fine for stick welding. The day you feel you want to go Mig or Tig then may I suggest you put a good ADH on the budget too.

Just my 02 cents observations on the welding ADHs I currently use.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

greetings,

I back read this thread and the info shared are very useful for beginners. Any updates where I can find a local supplier for ADH? What is the best bang for the buck?

I found these at sulit. Can someone share an experience on it, TIA.

lots of ADH available at T. Alonzo bro. be wary of dealing with sulit.com seller (not all of them of course, our bro JayL is one sulit seller that can be depended on) at the very least do a meet up if you're in Manila... imo lang naman.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Hey bro yid,

That Aussie Enterprise in sulit is I think headed by one PHM member too by the name of JanMike Caurel, seller of various DIY power tools from Australia or China etc. it seems there was some sort of deception or negative approach in the way you purchased your ADH. Considering you paid Php 4,800.00 for a Weldcraft USA and yet they sent you Powercraft that is only priced at Php 3,800.00, I honestly think you should inform them of this kind of transaction, now I suppose they owe you now P1,000.00 pesos and should demand for the return of the excess payment. That is your right bro. Another way is for you to post a negative reaction in their sulit account so others may be informed.

With regards to your DC welder machine, congrats for getting it from Industrialsupply143, you are assured there of good after sales service which most of us here have enjoyed this past years. Hope you got the PHM discounted price.

[COLOR="Red"]A little OT here:

WELCOME to the community but can you please introduce yourself here sa forum, we have a MEMBER INTRODUCTIONS, its just below the GAZEBO Forum if you will scroll down the PHM index page. Perhaps you can tell us about your hobbies or interest, location or line of work, though nothing that is too personal for you. We'd just want to know you better as a new member of PHM community

THANKS ! 😉

Well this is a surprise. Did'nt know ginigisa na pala ako dito. First of all my apologies to sir yid, i think we had a problem understanding each other. Akala ko we understood each other when i was trying to explain to you yun part ko. But before anything else, i would like to emphasize that i sell items for a decent profit. How i came to the price for sir yid, breaksdown to this:
1)Buying price from distro in sucat powercraft, 2014 price new stock- P3800 2)Handling(delivery) - P200 3)LBC to mindanao- P680 (est. is P485- i paid for the rest) Kilobox 10 4) and lastly tax (P465) and Markup P400(10%) for a total of P5545. My asking was P4800 for unit + P485 LBC for a total of P5285, abonado pa ako. But that's ok, yun na naibigay ko na price. Since buyer is not local i carry the burden of warranty which means i will be handling the claims, personally. So for P250 na kita? hindi na siguro masama..

With regards to Powercraft and Weldkraft and the USA and China issues i only relayed yun nasa product description ng distro sa aming mga resellers. And FIY powercraft is a weldkraft sub-brand or whatever you want to call it. And yes it is a USA brandname marketed in asia under POWERCRAFT, assembled in china just like all other usa brands available locally. And yes there is truth in my claims that there are POWERCRAFT resellers that sells cheapo powercraft models, and these are the same resellers who sell USA brands like tyler, skil, dewalt aswell as yamato, hitachi and makita clones

I have no angst to sir yid or anyone, you have the right to question the seller. Sa aming online resellers we may be charging a bit higher than physical stores but the ease of personally acquiring your purchase outweighs the minimal fee. Imagine traveling from the province just to save a few hundreds when you can have it for a little less minus the stress and guarantee you can have someone do it for you when you need it fixed. Personally speaking of course

I have some members here buy from me, and most of the time i give them the best offer ( i often handle half the shipping) and i don't seem to get a good talk, only negative?

But anyway thank you PHM, i hope i have defended my side. I rest my case to the readers, godbless!

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Hi!

Coming from LB, Laguna, what store do you suggest when buying an ADH?

I've browsed olx/sulit, even JanMike's ads but I would like to widen my options and prefer a physical store to see the actual unit. Toolec is just too far for me. Hanggang Megamall lang kaya ng pasensya ko hahaha.

I've seen the Tyler brand mentioned by janMike. Kinda cheap at 2,500 at goldenpeak tools.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

(Wifey asking me to build a simple stand for vegetable pots. I have the welding rods ready and canvassed for some angle bars. But my hand held helmet is gone. So I am going to take this opportunity to ask for an ADH from my wife hahaha. Nway, fathers' day is nearing)

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

fourtheboys96,

If you are coming LB, Laguna, that's kinda bit far if you are going to the city, known stores selling ADH are in QC. There are also stores/shops in the Binondo area that sells ADH, that is if you have the time to go around that area.

You can also check JayL's advertisments in OLX Sulit, he's got two items there of ADH, one is Miller and the other is Jackson, these are good brands. He can easily ship it to you through LBC kung ma gugustuhan mo.

Good Luck !! 😉

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Hi!
I've seen the Tyler brand mentioned by janMike. Kinda cheap at 2,500 at goldenpeak tools.

Ordering from an online vendor has been great for me so far, whether
the vendor is local or foreign... with a few heartbreaking exceptions.
Those exceptions are why I personally might not buy a low-cost ADH
sight-unseen.

Mahirap na ang claims when something is damaged in transit, from the
lens itself all the way down to the head-harness adjusters. Even if you
trust the seller completely and don't feel a need to function test merch
thoroughly, iba na rin ang ability to hold the merch in your hands, and
just look it over, before you decide to buy.

You mentioned Gold Peak Tools.
My cousin bought a D-handle router there, which I've since modded into
a table router. He was all praises for the guy there (Heric/Derrick?), but
said: getting clear directions for getting there is a must. If you're driving,
it's best daw to get there in the morning, for parking reasons. Unless I
misunderstood my cousin, Gold Peak has a bodega elsewhere, meaning
that for some merch, you will have to wait while a runner fetches stock:
it is therefore important to have a list of the stuff you want, and discuss
it thoroughly with the shopkeeper (another reason to go early, para solo
mo ang attention niya) so that the poor runner only makes one trip, lel.

Bring a lighter, so you can spark test the ADH lens.

A bit further north in Quezon City, you have a lot of other stores stocking
ADH. Topphand (where I got my ADH over a year ago --still haven't found
need to replace/upgrade) and CISC are represented just off Roces Avenue,
and there are others that have been mentioned prior.

If I lived in Los Baños, I might tell my wife "meron akong bibilhin sa QC,
baka gusto mong sumama at mag-shopping sa Trinoma?". Sold, 'di ba?
We'd leave early, park at Gold Peak by 9:00am and get the ADH etc., get
to Trinoma by 10:00am and shop (with stops at True Value+Handyman
being mandatory, WORKSHOP less so), have lunch at one of many nice
restaurants there, and maybe catch a movie before we head home with
all of my (and her) purchases, Huehehehehe..

Then again, I have no idea how bad traffic is, to/from Laguna these days.
Last time I made lagare was late 90's pa.

Good luck, and hth

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Salamat sa mga replies!

For now, QC will be my second to the last resort. Buying online would be the last.

First option is to go to Binondo. I've been there more than a couple of times usually when I accompany relatives or officemates to Divisoria. I leave them in DV and I go to Binondo (even Quiapo) by foot hahaha. I've been to Panda once or twice just to look around but I frequent T. Alonzo where I got my AC welder and chop saw

Do you guys have any recommended shops in Binondo area besides Panda?

I am hoping that Rizal's birthday on June 19 will be a non-working holiday for Laguna. Wifey already agreed to go to DV and of course buy me some Father's Day stuff at Binondo hahahah

I am trying to maximize the budget so to tell you honestly I am eyeing the cheap ADh from goldpeak (Php2,500). Tyler brand which surely China-made. What do you think of this?

If this looks ok, I might pay them a visit and maybe sneak-in a jigsaw and/or a Dremel.

Re: Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

So I browsed amazon just to look around. Then I tried see how much the cost will be including shipping. No shipping at 45 usd. But when I clicked it was for purchase already. So I thought, ok I did nog have any problems with amazon before so that is fine with me. But while browsing after the order was placed, I found the same exact adh for 26usd. So I requested for order cancellation. I just hope the merchant will cancel it. If not, I hope the adh will arrive here hehehe.

Hehe...
After adding an item to your cart, yes, you can click "Proceed to Checkout".
to display a breakdown of cost, including shipping. At that point, there will
indeed be a large rectangular button above, labelled "Place Your Order".

Amazon desperately wants you to click on that badboy, but no...
Don't fall for it!

Just click the "back" button on your browser, which will take you back to
your Cart, where you can delete the item; or, you can scroll down the
Checkout page to where your items are listed, and manually change their
Quantities all to zero, and this will again revert you to your (empty) Cart.

FWIW, I've always found Binondo to be a parking nightmare.
Easier to take a taxi, or else take a jeep and hotfoot it INTO Binondo, but
getting back out and then home, with a load of purchases... well, that's
where the no-fun begins, huehehehe

.

Holy crap, man...
If I was still in my 20's or 30's, I might imagine pulling that off. 😀
