I got me some leather gloves, the kind for welding maybe. Turns out it's not waterproof and my hands get wet inside *doh.* I wonder if anyone has ideas on waterproofing it, without making it so stiff the fingers would be hard to articulate.

All i could think of is epoxy primer paint, thinned with lacquer thinner, then brush on till i get the desired thickness...

Am not a fan of having/buying so much stuff but this thing sounds right for the job http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Dip-Intl-11603-6-Plasti-Dip/dp/B0000DD1PF

Re: waterproofing leather gloves?

The Plasti Dip would probably be too thick for the gloves to make it heavy and stiff to some extent.

I used spray paint on my canvass shoes before and it helped to eliminate water soaking in the textile when I am waling out in the rain. Since you have leather, you may try to use the rubberized paint that most t-shirt printing shops use in basketball jerseys.

Re: waterproofing leather gloves?

Hirap walang gloves, hirap din kung meron noh?

I never got to use the leather gloves I bought since last years, since most of my welding works aren't so lengthy and its so difficult to work with heavy gloves and it gets very sweaty inside(drentched actually).

But I always wear thick cotton gloves with rubberized fingers, so atleast my palm and back of hand can breath. I change to another dry pair during long breaks, so its about 3 pairs a day on weekends..

Maybe you can try putting on a thinner cotton glove with talcum powder or corn startch on your hands, before finally using the thick leather ones.

Just a thought... Hope it can help. 🙂
