Here you go :

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

These Miller fabrication gloves looks better built than than the Dewalt. The fingers and thumb portions are reinforced. Very soft leather and comfortable to wear. Will see how long these lasts.

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

very nice Jay, but is that scratch resistant? :pepsi: I could probably use one myself :weathermanf2:

Just want to share some sort of unforgetable experience with regards to the use of safety devise specially face protection. My wife requested me to installi a concrete nail on the wall in our laundry area for her to hang some wash basin, as i was on the process of drivin the concrete nail, maybe the nail might have not have yet penetrated to far in the concrete wall that it broke loose and hit me so fast in the left eyebrow, Fortunately i have always develop the habit of of putting safety glasses whenever got hold of tools specially hammer, drills or electric planers.

Yeah that sort of safety glasses was old AO safety, tinatago ko na dahil may malaking scratch, this were the first safety devises in my possesion. "This stuff dont cost as a fortune to buy but it cud save as a lot of bucks on our trip to the emergency room" as one folk have quoted in a woodworkingmagazine. So guys of PHM just for a reminder baka makalimot po uli tayo just wear any safety apparatus that is comfortable and appropriate to our diy projects.

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

I'm considering this type of mask now. Just don't know how long this will last. It's really a bit awkward to be wearing half face respirators specially when using an ADH or a full face shield.

I got a local quote from www.wyler.com.ph for 600 pesos each mask.

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

Cheapest would be eBay http://cgi.ebay.ph/3M-8233-1-N100-RESPIRATOR-W-VALVE-1-MASK-3M8233-/120413731159

Or you may try calling the local 3M suppliers:

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

I won this 3M Welding helmet in ebay a few months ago. It was listed as new but had no actual pictures of the product. In addition the seller had no feedback at all. None the less I took the risk and won it at a fraction of the cost of a new one. $152.

http://store.cyberweld.com/speedglas9000x.html

I was so happy when the seller shipped the item. Happier when I received it the other day. But at the back of my mind I was prepared to send it back to 3M if something's wrong with it.

The ADH powers on but turns off. During it's brief turn on it would not turn dark when pointed to a fluorescent light source just like my Northern Tool ADH.

Emailed 3M and was advised to replace the batteries. In addition I was informed that the lens does not respond to ambient lighting as well as sunlight. It does respond to the lowest to highest welding arcs and for trial purposes a remote control ( TV etc.. ) can be used for testing.

Replacing the batteries

Has air vents for breathing

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

It now works .... all controls responding and turns dark when triggered by a remote control infra red.

Looks like it's ready for it's first WIP. The welding table build.

Wide viewing area. When it's powered on the lens lights up clearly to shade 3. When in the off position it's default state is shade 5 or 6.

It can accept side windows and hopefully I will order a pair plus a cheater ( magnifying ) lens so I can get rid of my eyeglasses when welding.

Re: Workshop Safety Work Wears

One important lesson I learned in the recent Bosch seminar which, I think, is worth sharing: Do not wear gloves when working with power tools with serrated blades (e.g. Table saw, chop saw, circular saw). The instructor warned that gloves, being a few mm thicker than your hands pose the risk of getting snagged and dragged onto the blade since we have a natural awareness only of the limits of our natural fingers.

Kinda tough though when working with rough wood so I compromise: I use one of those thin, tight-fitting mechanix gloves (love them!) when feeding in rough wood into my TS but never get my fingers onto the table, always using a push stick if I have to.

No risk no gain ... LOL. Grabe naman pressure bro when you don't know if what will be received is working or not or for that matter if it will be shipped at all. Can't trust ebay sellers but can always trust ebay itself and paypal for refund. Hassle nga lang.

New from reputable online sites is always the best but sometimes too expensive if not very difficult to justify. No questions asked manufacturer's warranty if purchased from authorized vendors.
