Re: Breaking-in my Yamato DC

weld quality at 90-100 A DCEP

book ko on welding nabili about 3 years ago sa booksale for P340

another practice project: electrode holder stand

removable ung ground cable clamp ko to double as a jumper cable if ever mawalan ng charge yung battery ng pipip.

Re: Breaking-in my Yamato DC

practice welding at 140-155 A DCEP nihonweld E6013 3/32 in rod at 1/8 in E6011 wipweld. kakunat ng slag ng 6011 parang molasses. mahirap maghanap ng thin rods dito samin. maswerte nako at may nakuhang 3/32 in na 6013. plus my welding seem to be comfortable on arc starting, deposition and penetration at 140-150 A. sabagay 100% naman sya at 155A. iniiwasan ko muna magoverheat habang binebreak-in.

and finally, ang aking tubing bender din. gumaya din lang.

tried overhead welding

weld quality. getting better na rin kahit papano. kelangan ko lang ng steady pulse. once na magwander ang pulso ko nawawala na yung uniformity of welds.

Re: Breaking-in my Yamato DC

my tubing bender under construction. yung shafting na lang for movable end na lang plus bracing ng sides. nakahanap ako ng 3/4 in na U-bolt galing sa junkshop yun ang ilalagay ko.
made from 5/16 inch flat bar and 1/2 inch crs round bar. 6013 welding rods. with some 6011 welding rod. kahirap kontrolin ang 6011 eh. praktis pa.

Bro miked..

I think medyo malayo yung rod mo sa bakal..long arc can cause more weld spatters and poor penetration, however you can correct this by moving your rod close to metal surface about 1/8 of an inch..control your speed too parang mabilis yung pag lalatag mo ng weld beads sa bakal..just my observation bro..

Anyway nice bender project,i like to fabricate that too..:D

Re: Breaking-in my Yamato DC

@ miked,

Do not confuse yourself with different kinds of welding rods, stick ka muna sa 6013s, the 3/32" and the 1/8" rods, better know first each rod ampere settings and characteristics and just stick to the flat position muna. Learn first how to deposit proper or decent weld beads and puddles and familiarize your self with simple weld position.

For your 3/32" 6013 rods, ampere setting for this rod range from[COLOR="Red"] 70 amps up to 90 amps.

For the 1/8" 6013 rods, ampere setting range from [COLOR="Red"]95 amps to 130 amps or 140 amps.

Easiest position is the flat position and you can do 1G or 1F weld applications.
