Hello!

Has anybody been using those cheap china electrodes? I'm curious if the result would be also be "good" or average as compared to those branded ones. Or if it is really bad - not a good idea.

Inputs from masters would be highly appreciated - assuming that brand/type is a non-issue to them when using the yamato dc inverter.

Re: China electrodes

Hi NTD,

Hey bro, I haven't used or tried this unbranded China made welding electrodes, what I usually use are the NIHONWELD, WIPWELD, WIPCORD or BESTWELD brands coz these are the available brands here in our area.

According to a friend hardware store owner, these China made welding electrodes are sold much cheaper than the ones with brands, but.......... the quality of welds during application are not good that its hard to start an arc or produce a decent weld and that is why yung ibang customer ay nag complain or returned the purchased welding electrodes. 😮

Well bro that is what I can say only about the China made welding electrodes and the enlightening information came from the seller himself. Got this info a few years back.

CIGWELD Weldskill 250 amp Mig Welder
AHP Alpha-TIG 200X welder
HITRONIC 300 Amp DC Inverter IGBT Welder
YAMATO 300 amp AC Stick Welder
YAMATO 200 amp DC Inverter IGBT Welder
DeWALT Chopsaw
HOBART and ESAB Welding Helmets
cloned STIHLs
MS 044 chainsaw
MS 070 chainsaw

Hi rosy,

Ah ok. That's a good insight. That explains my welds are ugly..hahaha! (making excuse). Time to use the branded ones. Lols! - sayang kasi, kaya pinagtyatyagaan pang practice. I guess that's not a good idea. Lalo nagpapahirap at starting stage.

Thanks!

Re: China electrodes

About china electrodes, I've tested some...

I think the "Goldenbridge brand".. 3/32 welds are soft and steady but the metal is soft. This seems ok with thin sheets or light metals. But not so good with heavy or harder metals.. This cost around 80php a kilo.

The "Toyo brand" china 3/32, i find this with so much slag.. cost around 70php a kilo.

I also have tested a red colored flux rod.. The "Elephant brand".. i dont find it good, cause its slags so much and too much smoke..

I want to test the "hyundai brand" if i could buy some.. Im not sure if its china or taiwan made...

Compared to branded electrodes, cheap electrodes should be kept with more care(avoiding moist)... sadly small hardware's that sells the cheaper brands have no concern for this.. they just keep this rods in open shelves thus exposing it to moist and dust..

Thanks! Great insights from someone who really tried and used them. Hehehe! Yes, I agree, too much smoke and slag. That's what I observed.

Yups, sellers don't care much about proper safe keeping. Some even changes in color or have some white powdery residues.

I guess you get what you pay for..
