Re: Chopsaw Stand
Nice trick bro..parang pinag laban laban mo lang yung square tube to prevent warping:p
Just a little curious here bro..why not miter cut? Since you have chop saw naman..

Re: Chopsaw Stand
still have to clean the joints and full weld everything. ito na siya.
Hey bro crazyboi_6,
Siguro sa construction mo of the stand, you should have made the base a bit wider para hindi madaling mag topple yung stand when you start cutting metals with your chop saw. 😮
Perhaps you can weld some pieces of square tubing outside of the main base frame to ensure stability of the stand. Sort of another square outside the main base, then welded/supported diagonally by square tubings as well to the main vertical tubings. What do you think bro ?
Just my 2 cents observation. ! :rolleyes:

few addons you may consider:
- casters with lock
- something to catch the metal you're cutting
Re: Chopsaw Stand
HEY BRO crazyboi_6,
This could be an easy way for you to do your practice welding.
After this project try to think and create more metal projects that will of course be useful for you, remember, all the joints therein that you have to weld will be your practice pieces, that is already practicing on actual metal projects, don't worry about mistakes or ugly welds, you just have to learn from previous mistakes and try your best to correct or improve them on the subsequent weld applications.
Bro I think by doing so, you get to learn by yourself plus of course watch several videos on stick welding and how to apply them correctly, ang dami sa YouTube ! like for example this two vidz ! :whistle: :cool01:

See how this welder do to his rod first( pre heating the rod tip ) and watch his technique in applying stitch welds .

I'm surprised to hear this comment considering that you have a Bosch Chop saw. If you contact Bosch about this I'm positive they will do something about it.
I myself have a Bosch Chop saw and it's dead on accurate for an abrasive saw.
For cutting miters using an abrasive chop saw I always keep a half used blade for this purpose. I find that using a smaller diameter abrasive blade gives me less deflection.
The beauty of metal working. That basic chop saw stand you have built looks expandable to me. You could add a lot of options now or later. Wings , extension base, lower storage etc... congrats bro ...

@rosy
thanks for the tip. dami ko natutunan. marami pa ako projects, dami ko pa stands na gagawin. tsaka metal working lang muna aki ngaun, bawal pa woodworking.
@jayl
ill try to contact bosch, sana they do something about it. your chopsaw stand pala is the inspiration to make this stand. hindi lang kasing ganda. hehe.
Re: Chopsaw Stand
@ crazyboi_6,
GO GO GO BRO, kaya mo yan, just continue with your metal projects and in no time your welds will greatly improve !!! 😉 🙂 😎

Re: Chopsaw Stand
Bro Rosy speaks the truth ... good welding comes with practice ... systematic practice. His thread info on Stick Welding Exercises contain helpful tips. Shortcuts on how to tame the primary learning curves.
Newbies are getting better and better right off the start ... when I started my welding newbie thread I can't even weld metals together on the first tries let alone join square tubes as initial practice on an actual project ..... LOL
and do remember ... that most welding projects will look it's best after the paint job.

You can add a 3/4 ply board attached it in middle portion of your chop saw stand to served as welder cart too..
Im planning to build a cabinet in lower level .. Purpose for that is a storage for my little machine..just like hitting 3 bird in one stone..hehehe:D
