Yes V, having the YAMATO DC Inverter has lots of advantages to offer compared to an AC welder. 😉

I'm not making kulam here bro, but hope you consider getting one and probably sell na lang your AC welder sa featured ads ng PHM to cover some expenses. HEHEHE, :rolleyes: 😀

Amen ako dyan bro. My AC welder is gathering dust. Now that I have a Yamato DC welder. Very convenient to use and easy to set-up.

Ganda ng welds mo bro. I like the design of the metal ornament.

Bro V, your AC welder can also be used on stainless steel, its just a matter of changing your welding electrode specifically for stainless steel , usually # E307, E308,E 309, E310 or E312 rods.

Kaya lang the DC welder has a smoother hizzing sound start provided your clamping ground is well clamped to the material being welded, and with less sparks pa compared to the AC welder.

Here's an up date of the DIY project :
After finishing the ornamental design thing and attaching it to the main tubing...............;)

Next was cut a piece of a stainless steel tubing, about 3" in length then welded it on a 1/2" SS tubing, this will serve as the MIG gun holder.

Then cut another SS 3/4" tubing, successfully drilled a hole on its wall, then welded a nut on the surface. With regards to the small bolt, I just welded a piece of square bar on top of its head to serve as a handled so it will be easier to lock or unlock the holder tubing when inserted.

Then added a ring just under the slanted 1' SS tubing to serve as the stopper and for smooth positioning/rotation in what ever direction it may require.

The holder when inserted in the 1" SS tubing can be raised or lowered and can also be rotated around with the release of the locking small bolt. 😉

Bro joey81, hehehehe, wala pa akong MIG welder, this is just a preparation for one in the future, actually the basic project is for the YAMATO electrode holder kaya lang the simple design I made, nakita ko yung possibility that it can carry other torch holder so tinuloy tuloy ko na ang incorporation, 3 in 1 holder na sya. :rolleyes: It will have also a TIG torch holder wherein I am more bent on getting one soon, kating kati na mga kamay ko na mag aral ng TIG weld applications.

Kung baga sa design, all holders can be movable at any position or direction, I hope !!! 😀

Bro Rosy ... I like the idea that the Mig Gun holder can rotate. That one will be a very useful feature.

Can a PVC pipe or something fit inside the tube or maybe you can think of some other material to line up the inside / edge to protect the mig gun's business end.

Here is the Miller Mig Gun Holder. I find it good for the cart but not for the welding table.

The pipe design would be better with rotation and height adjustments. With a magnetic base it would be the perfect holder for welding table use.

That's a good point and tip bro JayL regarding putting something or some lining inside the tubing to protect the the tip of the Mig gun.I think I have some piece of leather or 1/8" thick rubber that I can glue inside the tubing as its lining. 😉

I'll post some pics later when I've done lining the inside and edge of the piping and see if that is what you had in mind, thanks for the tip !!!!!!! :thanks:

OK bro JayL, This is what I was able to do a while ago with regards to protecting the tip of the MIG gun.

I first made a ring, a bit smaller than the 1" SS tubing but just right to be welded on to the lip of the tubing.

These are the result of the initial ring welded on the lip of the tubing. Purpose of this ring is to soften the edge of the tubing's lip which will probably be touched by the tip of the Mig gun, perhaps the tip will just slide out without damaging or scratching the tip or nozzle.
