Coming very very soon!

A DIY project as requested by swmbo of a small double swing gate to prevent our dogs from freely roaming around down the property at nights.
She wanted them dogs always nearby the house to keep guard and to keep them safe too.

The project did not immediately start with the gate fabrication, I still have to determine the exact height and width.
So the plan was to first install two pieces of 2" GI pipe post, this is where I will attach the said gate project and that is how I will be able to pin point the measurements I need. Divided the whole project to four stages, first, work on the two GI pipe post then install. second, to start working on one of the 3/4" GI pipe frame until its complete. Third stage, work on the other half of the gate until its also completed. The fourth stage is for the installation and
finishing/painting of the posts and gate.

The two scrap 2" GI pipes that will be used as posts for the gate.

With these two thick plates welded as its base, this will be bolted to the concrete floor using anchor bolts.

3/8" thick ms plate purchased from a nearby junk shop.

Where the two post will be located/positioned.

Welds at the upper portion of the pipes.

Attached a piece of angle bar and a piece of metal at the upper portion of the GI pipes.

After finishing the first stage, the two GI pipe post, I immediately worked on the first frame of the gate after figuring out the height and width requirements. This is now the second stage of the project.

This is the first 3/4" GI pipe frame I assembled with measurements of 59 3/8" X 23 1/2".

I have already a design in mind to follow so I started measuring and cutting my 12 mm and 10 mm square bars and proceeded with the welding. Working patiently with the small parts on the lower portion of the gate, where those diamond shape designs were incorporated.

You'd probably be asking how these small squares shapes where made.

Using the 10 mm square bar, I cut several pieces measuring 1 5/8" in length then started manually making the squares one by one but found it tedious and time consuming. Clamping and welding then grinding each joint. Medyo mabagal ang proseso.
So I made a very simple jig to make the process faster and easier.

This is the " jig " , cut some strips of old 1/8" flat bar and then laid them down a scrap flat plate and just applied tacks on each joints. Much faster to form those squares, easy to apply welds on both sides, grinding will be faster. I will be needing 30 pieces of these square forms for the two gates.

And this is how this first half of the gate would partially look, with out the scroll designs.

Thanks Boo. Just trying hard to come up with something useful and possibly good lasting quality gate.....
GO GO GO, I encourage you to pursue in learning the skill, what is there to loose when you gain another useful skill under your hat.
Marami kang magagawang metal projects sa place mo if you know how to weld. :2thumbsup:

Cheers and Good luck !!

And manage to work and finish my scrolls using the 10 mm square bars. Made two sets of the scrolls since I'll be needing it also on the
second frame of the gate.

Then dry fitted to the gate project.
Hmmmmm, taking shape and looking good already.

Installed the upper scroll to see how it fits but decided to weld it already on the main frame.

Well I suppose this is how this gate will look when unpainted.
