Hi,
I only weld occasionally . It is more of a hobby and I'm self taught. It is very difficult for me to start and continue an arc when using fresh rods. I saw someone in youtube wraping once the cord around his arm and holding the rod itself when starting to weld. He uses the rod like a pencil. He does not use the holder. Only when the rod is shorter that he starts to use the holder. I tried it and it was effective. I use all the required PPE when welding. Kindly give your comment on this practice.
Thank you
Practice on a 45 degree pipe welding from rootpass, fill pass up to capping, includes australian open tv all position (overhead, vertical and flat position). Forehand and backhand welding techniques is also shown in pipe welding.
Perhaps you can show us what you know so other members who are into welding
may have an idea and maybe follow your lead.:agree:
