Of course you wire brush the grills to remove rusts and old paint. If yet unpainted, wipe Turco or Bronco
rust converter then wait an hour to dry then wipe metal with a rag and you can give it a coat or two of
red oxide or the metal epoxy gray and then after its all dry you start painting your iron grills with enamel paint
or if you can afford, automotive paint.

First time ko kasi nakakita ng sobrang concerned sa look ng iron grill. It should as simple as painting it with a primer then a final finish of your choice.

There may be areas or portion of your iron grills that cannot be reached by sandpaper so using/applying the rust converter will still be a plus factor to convert those rust into again metal. Go ahead use a sand paper or a flap disk mounted on an angle grinder to even out the iron surface. :whistle:

thanks po. i'm yet to install grills on my windows, bale planning stage pa lang po, I have allotted 2" sa inner concrete window jam since meron na po naka install na aluminum (awning) windows. Bale, sa inner 1" ko lagay yung grills then sa outer 1" (pina ka inner)(window/grills/screen; screen yung inner) for the window screen.

baka lang po kasi must better auto finish and granting pulido pagkagawa, di na gaanong kakalawanganin. yun nga lang ho, habe to weigh cost benefit.

You may also try marine enamel.

Meron white sa bakal after malagyan ng rust converter? Pwede bang patungan na lang ito ng primer?

OK lang kung nag karoon muli ng kalawang yung metal, kung wala naman eh oks lang.
Wipe off the white dried solution with a rag from the metal then you can apply the primer. 😉

No problem there, sometimes in my case I apply 3 to 4 times of the primer to really cover and isolate the metal
before the final finish. 😉
