Bro are you making some covers too so the rods won't be exposed to too much moisture when in storage?

Nice welds bro .... just right.

I could use a cutting table like that when I use oxy ace.

Re: Rotating Welding Rod Casings or Stand....a WIP for the Stick Welding on thin shee

These casings will be welded on the flat base but before that I will first attach or weld a solid steel rod or shafting which will then be attached to a wheel bearing and then will be welded to the sub-base octagon to make it rotate, and then probably I will also attach 4 pcs of metal wheel caster under the sub-base so it can be rolled out easily considering the weight of the welding rods in each casings.

Now, why did I make the rod casings a bit slanted instead of just letting them stand straight ?, well my purpose here is to somewhat show my casings some motions as though they are also exploding at different directions like when welding, sparks and weld spatters would go in different directions.

My next step here is to wipe all the metal casings with TURCO then set them aside first while working on the mechanism under the flat base and the octagon sub-base.

Thanks for viewing and will be continued !!!!!!

@ Bro JayL,

Yes I'll make metal covers for each casings so that the welding rods will not be exposed to the elements when in storage. 😉

That's good, you can fabricate too a cutting or grinding table, use your stick welder naman para hindi magastos sa wire and gas if you are going to use your MIG. My MULTI-PURPOSE table, that's how I will call it, is not totally done yet, I will still weld a single leg or post in the middle, a GI pipe of about 3" or 4" in diameter and and H-frame as its main foot/base so that I can tilt and rotate the table top and hopefully it won't topple. 😮 :p

As of now the table is just sitting on a metal horse and it is so heavy because I used some 16 mm corrugated steel bars, its a 3' X 3' MULTI-PURPOSE top.

If you may recall in my Welding Table sketch up, there's a cutting grill on one end of the table, I will not include it anymore since I have made already a separate table for cutting or whatever this table will be used for. :jazzysax:

For thicker metals above 5/16" definitely I will stick weld it. My Mig can do only up to 5/16" in a single pass.

Re: Rotating Welding Rod Casings or Stand....a WIP for the Stick Welding on thin shee

I would like to share something for the metalworkers/welders here. Not a WIP but something that I use when welding thin sheet metals.

This is my practice/scratch plate that is always nearby when doing stick welding specially on thin sheet metals. Due to the very low use of amperage setting which would sometimes affect the heating up of the welding rod's tip to attain some continues welds, I use this to scratch my rod tip a few times to attain a tip heat (or baga sa dulo ).

This is the reverse or the back of my scratch plate, used to be only two plate where I would practice applying welds. This practice/scratch plate is nice to be just beside you when using only a stick welder.

Re: Rotating Welding Rod Casings or Stand....a WIP for the Stick Welding on thin shee

I've decided to use some GI pipes for its underside to simplify its mechanism instead of a shafting bar and a wheel bearing so that the base will not become to heavy. Also started cutting the pipes to the required lengths.

My set up in cutting the 1 1/2" X 8" GI pipe that will be welded on the back plate.

Oh this very simple pipe support has been so useful for this type of cutting pipes indeed.

Two pics showing 2" diameter GI pipe being cut to a length of 4".

These next two images shows the 1 1/2" GI pipe being tacked welded on the underside of the metal base plate.

Cut some triangular metal from some scrap plate to serve as a base support for the GI pipe.

TO BE CONTINUED, thanx for viewing, :thanks:

To continue with the build :

In these three pics shown, I started applying tacks on the sides of each triangular metal piece as support for the 1 1/2" GI pipe that will also be welded to the underside of the base plate, now its ready for final welding. 😉
