Re: Stick welding newbie

alin ba yung nakakamaga ng mata, yung usok or yung sobrang liwanag?Pag nagsuot ba ng "Auto Darkening Helmet", hindi na mapapapikit pag naghihinang?
Yung front face lang gamit ko before eh.

your right bro Ruel!,if you have an ADH, its all automatic, meaning all you have to do is point the rod and and slowly learn to make welding beads, provided that your amperage setting is all correctly set,ADH is a good investment if you want to learn this hobby, based on my experience and on my first project, my eyes didn't swollen given that i did it(project) ,for almost 6 hours ,what i did was I just observed the direction of the welding smoke and I avoided it,As per what Sir Jay said the smoke problem can be avoided by using electric fan , and i am going to do it this weekend for my another welding session/practice:)

@sir Rosy and sir bugel-your both right po i needed mask/respirator for the welding smoke:thanks:

Bro, yung sobrang liwanag ang nakaka maga ng mga mata and as if you have fine sands in your eyes. Too much eye irritation due to
extreme flashes of burning rods. So better wear a welding ADH.

Yung usok o fumes produced by the rod burning naman and sobrang delikado sa hininga natin
particularly sa lungs natin, masakit sa lalamunan at dibdib. Bro JayL is right, have a fan pointed
towards you while welding just to ward off the toxic fumes plus possibly wear a respirator under
the welding hood/mask.
:cool::)

CHEERS to you bro ! 😉

Re: Stick welding newbie

Bro romelabrador,

I don't recommend using shades/dark glasses to protect your eyes or your face when welding, it
will still put some terrible strain on your eyes. Maybe putting some cloth or shirt on your head/face will do to avoid uv/ir exposure but why settle for
this type of set up when you can buy a passive welding helmet, the one with a flip up view window. Its not really that expensive to start with since you are
just practicing and prices are from Ph150.00 up to less than Ph500.00. This type of welding mask/helmet will sure protect your eyes and face compared to
sunglasses and t-shirts. 😮

Now for the mean time you are using this type of helmet, save up some money so you can buy a good quality auto darkening helmet, prices range from as low as
Ph1,500.00 up to almost Ph10,000 pesos. You can check Auto Darkening Helmets,OLX/SULIT.

When I was starting out to learn how to weld, I started with the first two passive lenses above then graduated to a more larger lens welding hoods.
Just made sure my eyes and face are properly protected. Have never experienced swollen or teary eyes or other inconveniences brought by welding.

And this is what I am using now, its very effective and very light to wear.
Its still a passive lens but a very large one, does not require any batteries at all to make work.
Yes I do have an ADH but have not used it yet for I am still enjoying using this welding hood !

Good luck and safety first !!

Re: Stick welding newbie

@ narako,

Sorry bro but I think its not available locally. Bought it at Weldfabulous.com two years ago and it
was priced at $69.69 dollars. Recently checked their current prices and its now $ 93.84. 😮

Well the in- thing now locally are the auto darkening helmets which you can choose from various
designs and prices that will suit your personal budget sa OLX,sulit. 😉
