I prefer the grind ed one. Looks cleaner specially when painted already. 🙂

Yes bro JayL, likewise here, for stainless steel I like it grinded/sanded or polished, malinis tingnan but really no need to paint stainless steels, as is, they are beautiful already. HEHEHE

Re: STICK WELDING on STAINLESS STEEL sheets, plates and more.

Yesterday I also tried my hands on applying some welds on some thin sheet stainless using the YAMATO DC Inverter since one of our member was inquiring about converting his Yamato DC Inverter arc welder into a Tig welder or something.

Any way I sliced up some scrap stainless thin sheet of about 0.5mm thickness, yes 0.5mm thick and try to find out how applying welds on this sheet will fair, but as I have said in his inquiry that it is better to use a TIG weld machines when it comes to thin sheet metals. I know I was able to apply some decent weld beads on this kind of thin sheet metal before on earlier posting using an AC welder but really will not recommend using a stick welder for such so thin sheets, IT IS JUST SO FRUSTRATING and so DIFFICULT to make continues decent weld beads on this kind of thickness. 🙁

And here'd what I did ;

Cut up some strips of stainless steel thin sheets then prep them up for an overlap joint and a butt joint.

AND THE RESULTING APPLICATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!! 😮

Set the amperage setting of the Yamato 200AMP DC Inverter arc welder to 30 amps then proceeded to apply some weld beads and it just keeps on punching holes on the thin sheet but in some instances was able to produce some arc by applying beads on top of each other to thicken the metal surface but really it was so difficult ans so frustrating.

Re: STICK WELDING on STAINLESS STEEL sheets, plates and more.

I did not pursue further coz I felt I was just wasting my time, my welding electrode that is so expensive plus electricity for nothing at all. :rolleyes: 🙁

So for thin sheets, use a TIG WELDER so it can give you decent and acceptable weld beads on your project/s. 😉
