Re: Towing Bar

quick question lang dear admins: yung 640 x 480 na picture size ay width x height or height x width...width x height sa photobucket pero parang ang output nya is the reverse. thanks

Typical of a 6011 finish, lots of spatters and ugly looking welds that is why its used for root passes. Sana after the 6011 application, you could have made another hot pass on top of 7018 and then the last is the 6013 for better looking weld puddle applications. Alalahanin mo, towing bar yan na subjected sa extreme tension due to pulling.

Mike .... don't you think you came in a little bit cold on this run? How's the penetration?

I could be wrong and maybe there is a root pass on this weld.

Re: Towing Bar

Bro miked,

Yes I think bro JayL is right, your application is a bit cold, the 100 amps will be ok if the surface to be welded are a bit thin or will not be subjected to extreme tension or stress. Probably you could have used 120 to 150 amps to achieve complete penetration or metal fusion. In this kind of situation of application what's important is the strength of fusion of the metals being welded and not the appearance of the final weld application, which is just secondary.

Any way you can still correct this application by grinding the existing welds, not totally removing it but grinding it flat and then re apply a new weld using 120, or 150 amps 6013 rods since you did not use a 7018 penetrating rod.

Hope this helps bro ! :no1: 😉
