Re: what type of rods?

I recomend 3/32 E6013 welding rod..why? Easy to use, easy to start an arc and nice weld beads result..madali pang makita sayong suking hardware stores..

For the ampere settings..it depends upon the thickness of your mterials to be welded..
Thin metals equals low amperage setting
Thick metals/ high amperage setting

For example if you weld 1/4" flat bar you can set it to 80-100 amps
If 1.5 mm square tube naman 70-90 .

Start with smaller size electrode you can learn much faster:)

Re: what type of rods?

Hey bro Ronald,

Better star with E6013 rods, these are always available at any hardware stores near your area. Its a general purpose welding rod that can be used for AC or DC weld machines. Like what bro bugel said, the 3/32" size rods will do, or the usual 1/8" size rods. If you will buy your welding rods, say a kilo, ask for the box of the 3/32" rods, can be Nihonweld, Wipweld, or Wipcord brand. Why with the box ? coz behind the box are instructions for proper ampere settings a welder can follow for each size of rod.

Then start your practice with 1/8" or 3/16" thick flat bars sourced from junk shops. I just hope you have already your welding helmet, gloves and other protective gears plus a few welding accessories to hold your metals and clean your welds.

Okidokis, stay safe during your practice !!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

You can also enroll sa WIP Weld sa Caloocan to learn the proper techniques and metal preparation.
