hay sa wakas nagamit ko narin itong new toy ko hehe ang hirap makakuha ng arc sa 80-90 pero
tiyaga muna dun dahil sobrang lakas naman sa 120 for a newbie.

still need more practice in having a steady hand and going with flow with
the shrinking rod. I definitely need to upgrade to a ADH. its hard using
the oem helmet. any recommended bang for the buck helmet?

Re: yamato break in

Bro post some pics so we can see your welds..
A lot of metal boys here can teach you on how to applied proper weld beads..

Search an ADH with ANSI certified markings..
Good luck on your hunt..:)

Re: yamato break in

my first try, ito po ba ang tinatawag nilang "spot"?

then ito naman for continuos welding.

ang hirap ng helmet pero importante nawala ang takot ko sa pag plug and pag gamit nitong yamato. i'm worried kasi nasa bahay din yung office namin baka madali yung mga computer.

Thank you sir rosy for the advises!

how will i know if matibay na ang pag weld ko? i tried attaching a small portion of this bar to a metal rod pero to no avail, kahit full weld natanggal nung pinukpok ko ng malakas. 😀

Re: yamato break in

Bro, laying some beads or some lines of weld puddles is very different from joining two metals together and making some metal fusion. When joining two metals together, you will have to be aware of your travel speed and controlled arc distance between the tip of the rod and the metal surface, you have to burn the metal and achieve metal fusion.

Maybe what you did was that the weld puddles deposited where just on the surface of the metal due to fast application of the welds. You have to slow down with your travel speed to be able to deposit your welds right and achieve metal fusion or melting. See if you can apply your welds in a straight line with some small side to side motions watching very carefully your welds, that is if you are starting from the left then towards the right direction. Try practicing it in about 3" or 4" in length several times until you familiarize yourself with the side to side motion. 😉

Sir wala ba plan na libre pa seminar jan in actual in the future for begineers sa place on welding techniques and experts advice for starters.. 😀 :thanks:

Re: yamato break in

well after trying to join a flat bar & rod sabi nga ni pareng google dapat parang scales or pinagpatong na mga diyes yun itsura. pansin ko hindi pa steady ang kamay ko kaya i decided i need to practice more in maintaining an arc. 😀 mahal din ang bakal kaya mahirap masayang.

so yun muna ang ginawa ko as per the two pictures above, kailangang pagaralan pang mabuti ang tamang timpla nito. bago mag try ulet sa talagang project

Re: yamato break in

Next practice session may I suggest that the test metals be cleaned thoroughly ( probably using a cup brush and an angle grinder). Stick welding does not require it but you might be surprised how much easier welding is if the metals are prepared well.

Re: yamato break in

@boyalmiroljr, try doing real project, even how small it is, you will learn a lot from doing it, and test how strong your welded joints. I did watched welding videos from youtube, but practicing makes a difference.

you will value more your welding machine after completing a project.

Re: yamato break in

Plus 1 on that suggestion bro, same thing I said/suggested to bro miked, to think of several metal projects so he will get used to applying good and decent weld beads and puddles. Practice is very different from the actual application, with the actual, you tend to get it right if not perfect, carefull in the application of good and decent welds.

I was in this same position some months ago, but then again that did not stop me in doing projects, from there, I knew what tools I should buy first, clamps are a big help for me, diy chipping hammer.
