Then added some metal braces on the sides.

And with some1/16 x 1/2 inch flat bars, made these ornamental designs manually and with a bending jig also to be added to the dust pan.

Dry fitted the ornamental design on to the dust pan.

Quickie quickie wip bro ... ano pa yun iba?

Eto talagang Yamato na to mas madali gamitin sa thin metals unlike the AC welders. Soft kasi ang arc.

Re: Yamato DC 200A Inveter Welder in Action

Sorry for the delay of posting, nag loko photo bucket and wasn't able access pics, but now OKs na !! 🙂

And to continue with the last stages of the DUST PAN :

I forgot to mention and take some pics, right after all parts have been welded and grinded, I applied a coat of rust converter then dried overnight and then the next day wiped it with kerosene and lacquer thinner. Applied two coats of epoxy primer by brush only, then let it dry completely.

Re: Yamato DC 200A Inveter Welder in Action

And the final result for this first project :

Spray painted the entire handle plus the added ornamental attachment with black automotive acrylic lacquer and masked the entire pan that need not be painted.

The unusual large dust pan is now ready to perform its intended task ahead !!!!

TO BE CONTINUED..............................
Tomorrow, I'll post the second quicky metal project.

Yes bro Jayl, this DC weld machine is easier to use for sheet metals compared to the AC welder, soft start and soft arc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉 🙂

bro rosy,
walastik naman yang dust pan mo, gaganahan kang gamitin.
indeed with a touch of art ...
my swmbo likes it...ang galing.

Re: Yamato DC 200A Inveter Welder in Action

i'll be starting na my wip on washing mashine stand...
ngayon lang nakapagpraktis magwelding after the bunkbed project.

welded all the inside corners...

then all the outside corners...

BTW, since i don't have a chop saw to cut miters to metal pieces, i have cut the metal as what master jayL adviced.

Re: Yamato DC 200A Inveter Welder in Action

all corners welded...

bad decision on welding some of the inside corners, welded it too thick, limiting the space for the angle bars for the leg parts...

will find solutions the problem on the next wip...

HEHEHEHE, Thanks bro jon, alam mo naman bro making the dust pan, eh"walang kabuhay buhay" kaya linagyan ko ng konting palamuti. Though it was more of a practice project also, trying to see how the DC Inverter weld machine will fair with the thin sheet metal, and it did worked quite well, I guess because the ampere settings can be lowered up to 20 amps compared with my other Yamato AC welder which can only be lowered to 50amps. :juggle::p

Bro jon,

Ang haba naman ng base na ginagawa mo, siguro pang dalawang washing machine yan ano??

Anyway bro, sana you can also invest on one Angle Grinder and another one on a Die Grinder, these two power tools will make cutting and grinding easier and faster for you. You may choose a Bosch brand or the Skil brand like what Timbs have shown in his other threads.

Anyway bro, regarding your welds, be sure to chip off the slags before you apply another one on top of it kasi hindi masyadong mag kakaroon ng metal fusion ang welds due to that dirty slags in between. OH you forgot to say what kind of welding electrode you used and what amperage you set the Yamato, at least we will know if its the proper or right one.

But as I see it on your first project, you're on the right track, makukuha mo rin yan, just continue practicing when you have free time, may I suggest before you weld your next project, try it on scrap metals so you will know and see the mistakes you will make and possibly correct it so that when you start welding your next metal project, hindi masisira or mabubutas.

Diba mas ok yun, trial or testing muna before final application ? !!!!!! :juggle: :chopper:

two separate washing machine and spin drier kasi ang gamit namin, the reason for the lenght of the stand.
i already got 1 angle grinder, it's a black and decker brand na medyo may kalumaan na, but still mapagtatyagaan pang gamitin.
frankly, ngayon ko lang nalaman how reliable an angle grinder is,
the uses of each of those consumables especially in metal working.
before i thought angle grtinders are used for cutting tiles and GI roofings.
but to tell you, i'm learning slowly but hopefully ay surely, because of you guys na walang sawang mag share ng kanilang knowledge concerning metalworking.
i'm still in the process of learning.

about chipping off the slags, he he he...gamit ko yung free chipping hammer ng yamato, kailangan talaga yung hammer na maganda...and sometimes the excitement is what makes you forget the step by step procedures... all i'm thinking of is to weld and to weld, no matter what...:electricf::electricf:
marami pang dapat malaman....
thanks brad rosy !!!

I can see where you are coming from bro. You want to put the angle bar legs flush on the corners .

The best way is to die grind with carbide burrs . It's a bit difficult to grind those even with pointed stones.

However in the absence of a die grinder what I would try to do is fit the angle grinding disc as much as I can to grind it. Then when installing the legs I will grind the legs part to a point where it clears the remaining weld obstructions. When the leg angle bar is flush enough with the corners then I proceed to full weld the legs.

or you could weld the legs on top of the angle bar frame itself. Welding inside and outside ... grinding the outside part flush while keeping the inside part un grind ed for strength.

Be aware of metal distortion while full welding. Strategically placed tack welds are our friends. Try not to to skimp on necessary tack welds.

Hope this helps.

Don't throw away your grinding disc when these are consumed and a bit small already. These will fit better in grinds like those above. With extra care one can even take off the grinder's guard for better access.

your right bro jayL, should'nt weld it to much inside.
however, this what i did, i adjusted nalang the legs to make it almost flushed to the main frame.

then proceed to the full weld...
inside...

and outside...

and here's the outcome...

Re: Yamato DC 200A Inveter Welder in Action

in the previous weld, i used welding rod E7024 at ampereage between 100 - 120.

and now i add some re-inforcement...
now i used welding rod E6013 at ampereage 120 increasing when needed.

tack weld...

then proceeded to full weld...
