anyone here who has a pet dog with the same skin problem, appreciate it if you can share your experience on how it was cured? thank you in advance 🙂 ...

our pet, named Angel (so malambing talaga with a very expressive eyes) is 6 months old now, we got her when she was just 3 months old. we notice that she is losing some hair in her legs (inner and lower portion of her legs) - small patches in her front legs which looks to me that they are spreading. during her vaccination, the vet said that it's just 'kalyo' and normal for a big dog - it was not that many then. now it is :-(. we went to the vet 2-weeks ago to have it check. the vet thinks it's due to an allergic reaction but don't know what is causing it. for starters, she told us to change her dog food to another brand and gave her some additional vitamins for the hair loss.

my wife and i have been reading a lot about it in the internet, but finding the cause of the allergy (if it is an allergy) is a bit tough, it can be anything (e.g. food, environment, etc) as angel is not tied down and moves around a lot in and out of the house - our place is like a small farm lot. it can also be hypothyroidism which we also read in the internet. we hope it's not but if we cannot find any allergy, next step (as my wife insist) is to have a skin or blood test for her ... any feedback from dog owners will be highly appreciated ... cheers

Boo!

hi. i have a labrador myself (yellow lab ala marley and me). He's currently 9 yrs old. On his 3rd year he started developing patches on his legs and elbows, losing some hair on those portions. Im not sure if this is the same disease but my vet claims that its "Mange" disease. The next few years was a struggle for both of us - as he keeps on licking, scratching those parts. Antihistamines (yes) and "AMitraz" solutions were no help, in fact the solution smelled like chemical poison. Felt hopeless, i stopped the treatment and just concentrated on cleaning his surroundings, supplementing his diet with "fish oil" capsules and using a cheap anti mange shampoo from SM Hypermart. Surprisingly hair started growing and he's in somewhat good shape in his senior years. Hope you can treat it sooner boo!

thanks pre, i will read more about this "mange" disease. it's hard to find a good vet here in south cotobato. this vet is already our second, and most likely, we will have to consult another one if angel's condition does not improve in the next 2 months. the new vitamins has omega-3 which i think is fish oil in a sense. from my reading, it's good for the dog's hair ... cheers
