Shaping up for the 2012 Toyota Avanza

Not long ago, I was contemplating on the cars that are currently out in the market that are due for an upgrade or replacement. The suddenly, the Toyota Avanza came into mind. This entry-level MPV came to the Philippines more than five years ago and just in the nick of time, a new one recently surfaced in Indonesia, sporting more kits and a new look.
The 2012 Avanza's front fascia resembles the Toyota Ractis hatchback that is sold in Japan and Hong Kong, but some say that it mimics the current generation Corolla Altis. Surely, we can all agree that the rear styling is lifted from the Land Cruiser Prado that made it look a bit out of place.
Inside, the new Avanza gets new instrument panels, redesigned air conditioning vents, an integrated audio system with auxiliary port, and a new steering wheel design. As expected, the entry-level variant gets wheel covers and bare dashboard layout, while a range-topper model dubbed as the “Veloz” in the Indonesian line-up carries a different grill design and side skirts.
Powered by the same 90 and 107 horsepower 1.3 and 1.5 liter VVT-i engines found in the outgoing model, this five-door wagon is mated with either a five speed manual or four speed automatic.
