does anyone know how to secure a permit to log this kind of wood. its privately owned growing on a 6 hectare property. actually total number of trees is 2,000 but then di naman kaya yun na one GO, or does the permit cover the 2,000 plus tress then deduct deduct nalang as you cut? lost pa ako in this topic so any directions/ contacts will help.

Bro ernie, that's bad, very bad murdering all those mahoganys, sigh !, hehehehehe
you will have to go to the DENR branch (regional office) near the location or province of where these trees will be harvested ( logged ). If there is no regional office, then its the DENR head office, that's where you get your permit. You will have to show also some certification or permit from the property owner plus some concrete reason why these trees will be harvested.

Alam mo naman may total log ban tayo ngayon sa Phil., baka ka lang medyo mahirapan sa permit to log, anyway bro good luck !!!!!

Re: How to secure a permit to CUT 100 trees of mohogany

thanks Joey and Rosy for the directions.... hmmmm.. very very interesting ah!!

hmmm.. i was thinking na if it was planted in the first place to be harvested upon retirement then wala dapat hassle. after all the mohogany is suppose to be for commercial use talaga unlike mga yakal or the likes ng hard wood.

yung owner kasi is really high end property developer and a good friend. we were just discussing kahapon, actually we were talking about our toys then shifted to the trees topic since he knows wood aside from the old cars is my other addiction kaya he offered me his mohogany plantation, ang catch is i have to do all the leg work, then we talk about compensation.

Re: How to secure a permit to CUT 100 trees of mohogany

One thing I don't like now when planting a couple hundreds of mahogany or narra seedling on a large private property, the owner cannot just harvest his trees when harvest time comes, owner will still have to get a permit from the DENR to be able to harvest HIS OWN trees which were planted on his own property. 😮 :p

What ever happened to ones rights and the investments. ?

Re: How to secure a permit to CUT 100 trees of mohogany

How about transport, either of the raw logs or after processing into lumber ... is DENR certificate really required? depends on volume? state of processing? chance of being stopped?

We recently transported some rough and S4S mahogany by own truck. Got conflicting advise -- lumber supplier said their sales invoice/OR and certificate of registration was enough, but DENR person and regulations posted on website said DENR 'certification' required, otherwise not only could wood be confiscated but vehicle also, according to one DENR branch. To play safe, we went to trouble of getting the 'certification'. Turned out to cost less than P100 with OR, but they wanted 1-2K in inspection and other 'fees' with no OR. Managed to avoid paying these but still get the paper in time.

Not sure we'd go to all that trouble next time, even if letter of the rules seems to require it...

Re: How to secure a permit to CUT 100 trees of mohogany

a permit is needed from the DENR because there is no way to distinguish between a mahogany grown in your backyard and those grown in the wild. hehe

same as my 20 year narra tree in the front lot we felled in 2010.. a permit from the local barangay was all that was needed.

:batman:

btw: the narra is the "yellow" variety...well kept..stickered...sundried...treated with solignum...now ready for dimensioning...but my bandsaw isnt around yet!

Bro you have to submit a letter of request to CENRO (community based environment resources office) in you area. Attach all pertinent documents like proof of ownership, i.e. land title, average tree diameter, no. of trees to cut. You will be cutting hardwood so maybe needing special permit that will require inspection by DENR representative to assess the environmental impact before they approve it. It may take some time to get it because they may require additional documents & conditions to meet. HTH

Re: How to secure a permit to CUT 100 trees of mohogany

Same question for the experts. Here is the situation, A friend of my mine acquire some woods from his former boss. Based on his description they are 3"x8"x60" and some smaller ones. The 3"x8"x60" are roughly 15 pcs. and about 17 pcs. for the smaller one. He said its colored brown for most of the woods, My question is do I need permits for these? I need to travel from Bulacan to Quezon city.
