Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
hahaha thanks Doc!
napaka interesting na thread ito!
naku, magkakabukingan na hehe
newborns till childhood--very much dependent on parents..
teens--puppy love, crush, body piercing, etc.., justin bieber, peer pressure (inom/yosi..trying out new things..)
20's--careless, freewilly, nagbibilang ng girlfriends/boyfriends, driving under the influence of...
30's-work and relationship..
40's-more work to feed more mouth, declining vision, hi blood sets in..., nanunud na ng CNN/BBC, concern na sa global warming, concern how to economize, stove versus electric water heater...trying out to repair a leaking pipe ending up spending more buying tools for this and that..hehe
50's-thinking of retiring..finding out new things..like gardening..naglulupa in short...kinakausap na mga halaman at bulate...nagiging palasimba na...
60's--frequents more the church...and excited to get a senior citizen card..hahahaha!

Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
incidentally, i am also a consultant pathologist at Baypointe Hospital in Subic but the hospital is still young to be fully operational..more things to fix before we can operate fully..The expensive MRI (now may cost about 50-75 million pisotas) needed to be housed in an aircon room with solid flooring due to its weight and of course due to the vibration while it is being operated.
i dont think Jose Reyes have an MRI, perhaps its Delos Santos Medical Center in Quezon city rotunda..
Remember, that MRI is only diagnostic and will not treat your uncle..id like to ask a few more questions but id like to limit on answering your question...yes the scan is a bit expensive because the machine is expensive..the return of investment buying that machine cannot be possible if we lower down the price..i had twice MRI scans at Cardinal Santos involving my abdominal organs and cost me a total of 43k, i had the CT scan sept last year for the chest and abdomen for 32K..i had the embolization procedure at the Medical City for 150K...money spent that can already buy a decent 2nd hand car btw..but doing these things can give me piece of mind of what i really have...me discount ako for being a doctor and my surgeons dont charge me a single centavo for their professional fee. that i guess are the things i need to be thankful of being a doctor...but sometimes being a doctor more so if a pathologist is a pain in %&#% when you have become the patient yourself..you tend to imagine morbid things due to symptoms you experience...and finally the only thing that can save you from losing your sanity is Him.
I hope your uncle will be healed soon. He must be dear to you.

Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
i cannot thank you enough guys..just being here in the site makes me want to live a hundred years more...there is simply unlimited things to be tapped and learn di ba?
but i am sure i have tapped the best guys here!
and hoping we always practice safety..like i was told safety should be observed always..
remember my toe nail hit by a foot long angle bar? it is healing sooo fast! 😎 meaning to say my liver is functioning well to produce ingredients for wound healing, and clotting factors to stop the bleeding..the liver isnt only an organ to store foodstuffs to be used as energy but makes a lot of chemical substances to help us live...and what is amazing about it is that it can regenerate when you remove part of it unlike your lung, kidney, brain or the heart for that matter..it has lots of function and thats the reason why its one of the heaviest organs second only to skin!
but i am not here to restrict you from drinking occasionally...if you have a diseased liver then i would advice you to limit or stop if you can from taking alcoholic bev..
with an organ that big, drinking beer a day wouldnt do a lot..believe that it can manage to clean you off that thing anyway.
what i worry about is smoking...we live in metro manila and our air here is so polluted..many of my autopsy cases who lived on average 5 years in the metro with no smoking history has arleady this permanent black thing (called anthracotic pigments) in their lungs..this thing can solidify the lung and makes it unexpandable..in due time...they group together and further limit lung expansion..the beginning of what we call chronic obstructive pulmonary disease..di ka naman mamamatay agad dun...madali ka na nga lang hingalin..kaya nga i spent a day or two in nueva ecija for clean air..pero cabanatuan is already polluted due to more than 50K tricycles (excluding the single bikes) plying all of the city roads.
tama ka ossie, less smoke ang special nihonweld 6013! di baleng mahal basta ba less fumes..tutal hobby lang naman di ba? i dont plan to make it for a living..but i can teach someone eventually for his livelihood..that is my goal.

Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
Kaya nga, if choosing between beer or softdrinks, sabi ko yung liver pwede pa mag regenerate and mas mahirap ang diabetis. :p
Kaya sa ref namin, walang softdrinks, beer or water lang meron.
Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
nyahaha!
there is truth to that.beer more healthy than softdrinks!
especially if its a cold one!
but because of the calories from a bottle of beer a day, make sure you get to perspire the following day by doing some exercise to burn it. otherwise magmuka ka kang SPO4 later.hehe

i cannot thank you enough guys..
No doc, kami ang dapat magpasalamat sa iyo! :thanks:
It doesn't show because I don't reply to threads a log, but I'm really grateful that you're around. Marami akong natututunan. And you always remind us that health and well-being comes in ahead of everything else, via both good and bad examples (btw, glad your toe is healing well). 😀

Hindi totoo yan! *hic* :drunk:
Honestly, I don't drink beer. Not that I avoid it but I just like the taste of it but I times it tastes better when ice cold. Most of the time I just avoid it because I might start to get addicted to it which will make my situation worse since I'm already overweight. What I am guilty of is drinking hard drinks like Tequila and Vodka which I find more interesting and flavorful and my silent enemy is coffee as I drink at least 3 cups a day (which I think is bad) :lotsocoffee:
I do have one consultation as well for you Doc. There are rimes where I feel my hands to be numbing, not that I cannot feel it but the feeling that it's going to get numb. I usually (but not every time) feel this while eating when holding utensils.:eat:
Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
masama talaga smoke ng pollution Doc dapat iwasan ang usok :jazzybass:
ako naman meron kaming wine sa ref, pero generally drink soft ones, hindi drugs ang coke ha :urinal:
basta alam ko I try to practice good habits lang :rave:
click my signature and it will take you there........
Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
the first of bottle of ice cold beer to me is as tasty as a sparkling water...i dont why the second bottle becomes less interesting..the only reason why i dont drink beer anymore is getting the migraine the following day.:(
@jarod,
do you hold your spoon and fork like you are always in a fine dining? too much flexing at the wrist area compresses the nerves that supplies the hand and fingers..it could be carpal tunnel syndrome...because these nerves (ulnar) passes into a tunnel made by strap ligaments crossing your wrist..in severe form of these disease, they cut the straps in half so to liberate the nerves.
some people also develop this syndrome from ill designed keyboard tray..when the keyboard is higher than the elbows so as to produce flexing at the wrist area...if its just the feeling of numbness then its just mild..for frequent attacks accompanied by pain (some diabetic, overweight and hypertensive people can have attacks in cold weather/airconditioned rooms) not because of compression but due to limited blood supply going to these nerves..then you might try wrist supports.
wrist supports..available for both wrists (i.e. right and left) and cost varies from 400p a piece to around 1K depending on the store..Medical supplies stores in Bambang may sell for less but you have to scour the entire area to get the best deals..
like i say, it could be carpal tunnel syndrome..but not neccesarily so.
some people may advice you to take Vitamin B complex for the numbness (B1, B2, B6 for the nerves) but if you have a real carpal tunnel syndrome, a truckload of these B vitamins wont dent the symptoms in any way.

Re: Itanong mo kay Doc..(Ask the Doctor)
@timber,
yes good habits...and positive attitude..free your mind of stress..enjoy living.
stress put more stress to the heart.
problems will always come in the way..small or big..but looking back in those years...all your problems met their solution one way or another...di ba?
when there is no solution to a problem, i sleep on it.
for all i know...somebody up there is cooking the solution.
i just wait the following day or two to savour it.
i hope you guys change your attitudes toward life.
think about the things that you want.. not the things that you dont want..
for example, if you dont want to be late for work..do not strain your mind by thinking you dont want to be late for work..think "i will be early for work!"
and you will find the difference...
i regret having to discover this teachings relatively late..but there is still plenty of time out there in the sun.
😉

wow. 😮
hahaha. gets ko po what you mean for being a patient ( sabi nga nila "doctor na eh hindi pa kayang gamutin ang sarili" heheehehe)
siya po kasi nag scholar sa akin during my highschool days po..
Delos Santos po pala near Hyundai E. Rod.. hehe
maraming salamat po ulit... :thanks::inlababu:
