Hi Guys,

I think we now have a handful more new members i have not met.

I have been rather unfortunate the last 6 months. Been excruciatingly tired everyday. Hopefully with more exercise i could get my energy level up. Had a brief stint with my watch addiction as well, but tiredness still caught the better of me.

Anyways i think i can be up and running soon, like i said, exercise will probably cure it. Didnt really have more work load. just tired all the time.

My workshop was sitting idle almost RIGHT AFTER i got my bandsaw and got a 6 set dvd from Mr Maskery (woodworking essentials series, an English fellow) this was 6 months ago.

I have rust all over, including my UNUSED veritas mkII honing jig@!!! and engineering squares from SOBA. geeez

Oh and i stilll owe Rosy his random orbit sander =) sorry pare, my tiredness is really so bad that all i try to remember is work, coz if i dont i forget alot of stuff at work that i need to do.

Anyways i will finally have a new post this weekend and it will probably be about RUST!!!!!!!!!!

I managed to happily STOP any rust on my table saw and bandsaw. will post some techniques i used

My router bit shafts are ALL rusted... geeeez, my bandsaw blade too... geez

anyway thought i best post here for my ummmm back from the dead state hehehehhe

will happily be able to join EB's again.

Oh timber, aangkinin ko nalang yung box na ginawa mo heheheh remind me to remunerate you. i will put my fancy tools in it 🙂

Cheers guys!!!

re: rust. I have read in another forum that synthetic motor oil is a good option. I have yet to try it though.

Hey Ben, bro,

Don't worry about the orbital sander, as long as its with you then it is safe, hindi naman nabubulok yan, just wrap it in plastic e dust and rust free na yan.

Yes but before anything else, welcome back ben, many members missed you and your posts.
Sige post na agad, weekend naman. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 :cheerleader:

@ bigfoot,

Yes the synthetic oil works too coz I've tried it. Another is wipe your tools if they are gonna be stored for a long period with grease after cleaning and de-rusting them. Moisture will not penetrate the coat of grease. :p 😉

Re: My regretful MIA or so the last 6 months

funny since today I started some clean up on my machines particularly the 4100ts and the Rikon table. the cast iron bs table had little rust marks which I rubbed clean using a polishing compound then applied turtle wax and wiped clean.
the 4100 ts gets a more major clean up...
removed blade and arbor bushings and blew with compressed air and brush whatever the air cannot remove.

cleaned cover and waxed also.

the whole body gets a wipe on lang with rag with soapy water.

even the outside and top gets cleaned, now works smooth as always...

As for the box Ben, you have covered for it already with the first one, consider it a gift IF you can join us on the next EB. hehehehe

Welcome to the site, enjoy it but jeep it clean. hehehehehehe welcome back brader.

Re: My regretful MIA or so the last 6 months

Aluminum table tops do make life against rust easier.

I used two products, one takes away rust and the other prevents rust

my table saw cast iron table was RUSTED badly on one side, and was not on the other, eh kasi naman iniwan ko yung crosscut sled ko on one side... amazingly that prevented the rust! hahahha i left it lying there for a 2 months during the SUMMER time

So i treated the rusted portion about 5 months ago and then put in the preventive coating, until now WALANG bagong rust. anyways this will be in detail on another post which i hope will post by tomorrow.

I have work on saturdays kasi ehehe
