How SC decision on Enrile bail came about
By: Solita Collas-Monsod
Philippine Daily Inquirer
01:53 AM August 22nd, 2015

http://opinion.inquirer.net/87824/how-sc-decision-on-enrile-bail-came-about

i'm no lawyer, just a concerned citizen with a forward look at the impact of the event/s happening in our country ... one of the SC function is to ensure no injustice has been committed by any other goverment institution in it's decision. thus, to be objective, SC needs to review the arguments of the petition presented to it (by the accuse thru his lawyer) as against the decision made by an institution. for SC to grant a bail petition other than the argument/s presented to it (e.g. humanitarian reason that was not included in the argument/s presented) is like opening a can of worms. why? because all SC decision/ruling becomes a precedent (a basis) for all ongoing/future cases because it is the highest judicial process in our country.

i won't be surprise to see other accuse (e.g. GMA) with the means to follow what enrile's lawyers has done ... cheers

Binay asking for his day in court?
By: Solita Collas-Monsod
Philippine Daily Inquirer
02:55 AM August 29th, 2015

http://opinion.inquirer.net/88026/binay-asking-for-his-day-in-court

for binay, the name of the game now is to really delay that 'day in court' until after the 2016 election (as what other politician have done in the past), at which time, if he wins, he can easily manipulate the corruption accusation against him ... with poe's reluctance to accept the VP position of roxas, it's only binay who benifits from the divided votes of the two πŸ™ ... with this disunity, the only major problem now is finding a VP that would run with him ... it would be interesting to see who this person will be as everyone does not want to be associated with him ... i read some news articles this past few days about a binay-marcos tandem πŸ™ ... sort of testing the waters to see the people's reaction ... cheers

Iglesia Ni Cristo protest backlash: De Lima trends like pop star
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/717568/iglesia-ni-cristo-protest-backlash-de-lima-trends-like-pop-star

Poe, other presidential bets predictably speak like politicians
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/717574/poe-other-presidential-bets-predictably-speak-like-politicians

... "According to the INC members, De Lima violated the principle of separation of church and state when she acted on the complaint of Isaias Samson Jr., one of its ministers, who filed a serious illegal detention complaint against the eight members of the church’s Sanggunian in the Department of Justice (DOJ). They maintained that the complaint should have been left to the INC leadership to resolve." ...

was there a violation of the principle of separation between the state and the church? absolutely, NONE ... i feel sorry for all the devoted INC members who follow their leaders actions without taking some time to understand the issues on hand πŸ™ ... in a democratic country like ours, an individual's freedom is one of the cornerstone guaranteed by the constitution/goverment to its citizen. no person or institution has the right to detain (illegal detention) a person against his will without proper cause. it is only the goverment, following the due process of the law that has this authority.

if an individual feels that his basic individual right has been violated, he/she can file a complaint with the goverment for it to take action ... and this is what the expelled minister samson did because he felt that his basic right was violated after being (illegally) detained against his will by INC leaders for 10-days based on his complaint. in a democratic country, all the principles of the church or state for that matter is always base on a higher principle which is the INDIVIDUAL'S RIGHT TO FREEDOM ...

it's also sad to note that some politicians (trapos or not) are showing some support to this INC action so as not to antagonize it and lose votes in the coming election ... poe should castigate the political handler who advice her to give out such comments πŸ™‚ he he he ... for me personally, it just shows that she is still not ready for the presidency as she still needs to learn to understand/analyze for herself the issues on hand and not just outrightly listen to her handlers/advicers ... cheers

KUWENTO
To young Filipinos who never knew martial law and dictatorship
By: Benjamin Pimentel
03:04 PM September 12th, 2012

http://globalnation.inquirer.net/49932/to-young-filipinos-who-never-knew-martial-law-and-dictatorship

for bongbong to state that PH was better off during his father's presidency is a total BS ... he even had the nerve to say that PH could have been like SG today if his father was not overthrown ... bongbong was 29 when his father was overthrown in 1986 (edsa revolution). he would have been really stupid if he was not aware of what his family has done to our country during his father's rule ... the only reason he is seeking a higher position is to vindicate his family's reputation ... now, it looks like binay is willing to forget the past (talagang trapo in all aspect and balingbing pa) and take bongbong as his VP for 2016 πŸ™ ... i just can't imagine what will happen to our country if this tandem wins in 2016 ...

do not forget what happened to our country during the martial law years under marcos and his cronies ... i hope the younger generation will take the time to understand what really happened (e.g. repression, salvaging all those who oppose, systematic looting, blatant corruption) to our country during those times ... below is an excerpt from an old PDI news article which gave me flashbacks of those dark days ... cheers

... "But one thing you need to remember, and perhaps we need to remind ourselves about this too, those of us who joined the uprising to get rid of Marcos β€” We didn’t march thinking we would suddenly live in paradise. We didn’t face riot police and the security forces thinking that the country’s problems– the corruption, the poverty, the abuse of power β€” would suddenly disappear.
We joined the fight to get rid of a tyrant. And guess what – we won. And you won.
I know it’s hard to believe, especially given all the news of corruption and abuse and of people dying and disappearing.
But trust me: it was much, much worse back then. It was a much scarier, more violent time, when even the mildest criticism of government, of Marcos, of Imelda, could land you in jail or even get you killed." ...

Why our choice for president is so important
By: Solita Collas-Monsod
Philippine Daily Inquirer
01:31 AM September 12th, 2015

http://opinion.inquirer.net/88453/why-our-choice-for-president-is-so-important

... "There is one other consideration which makes it doubly important to pick a president who is both competent and has integrity. And that is, that the next president will be choosing the next 11 members of the Supreme Court, between 2016 and 2022. We all know how important is the Supreme Court: It is considered a country’s β€œlast bastion of democracy.” If a corrupt president packs that court with equally corrupt people (again to serve individual instead of societal interests), it will exacerbate an already bad situation, and leave us worse off than before our attempts to clean up corruption in the country." ...

there are 15 members (14 associate justices and 1 chief justice) of the supreme court and the next president of our country will be appointing 11 of them during his/her term ... IT'S THAT IMPORTANT THAT WE VOTE A PRESIDENT WITH INTEGRITY AND WHO HAS THE BALLS TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION ... if the choices on hand ( e.g. roxas, binay, poe, duerte, marcos, etc) are not that good for one reason or another, then choose the lesser evil ... otherwise, our country will be back in the stone age ... can you imagine what will happen to our country if a binay-marcos tandem wins in 2016? ... "ala mah", ang hirap isipin kapag nangyari yun πŸ™ ... cheers

Gloria Arroyo cites Enrile verdict in petition for house arrest
Philippine Daily Inquirer
05:23 AM September 18th, 2015

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/723145/gloria-arroyo-cites-enrile-verdict-in-petition-for-house-arrest

as expected, those accused of non-bailable crimes (e.g. plunder) with money have started to file for house arrest or bail ... "special treatment", same as in the case of JPE πŸ™ ...

SC fooled big-time by joke
Philippine Daily Inquirer
12:24 AM September 17th, 2015

http://opinion.inquirer.net/88601/sc-fooled-big-time-by-joke

the next day after JPE's release, he went back to work at the senate ... yan ba ang sickly? πŸ™‚ he he he ... now that SC is getting some flake (e.g public's feeedback and the 3 motions filed against the decision) on their "special treatment" to JPE for granting the bail, all of a sudden, enrile has dengue ... i have to admit that JPE is really one intelligent and shrewed politician around being able to survive PH politics since the martial law days during the marcos regime ... which is why some people consider him more dangerous than other politicians ...

cheers ... Boo!
