Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Yes Bro JON, that is what I intend to do, a removable locking jig for different sizes of square or rectangular tubings, basing from his build, the locking jig is fixed or welded and only for one size, plus maybe I will also use a thicker flat bars to ensure instability during bending.

When I make one, I will give you my dimensions if this will also be very useful for you. 😉 🙂

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Bro Jayl,

OK, MARAMING SALAMAT BRO.

Another thing here, I found sometrhing sa WeldingWeb a few days ago, a very worthy metal project that can be very useful and practical for us metal workers here, joseph_zinsk, contributor sa weldingweb says its ok if we copy his bending jig or do some improvement, he posted it so that others can also make one, no problem with him.

I do not know if you have seen it but for me it is very interesting and will be very useful. I plan to make one too with some changes or improvements in the near future, hope this will be very useful for you to bro Jay.

square tube bender, cost less than $25

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Any idea how much does it cost to buy the small cylinder and content of argon gas for TIG Welding? I'm getting my torch and regulator this weekend and i would be needing the gas next. Thanks.

Yes. Small cylinders are outright purchases. I tried to rent one but was told these are for sale only.. probably in the 3.5K range.

I was at a junk shop near our place checking out some 1/2" thick flat plates and some scrap I-Beams and luckily was able to chance upon an M-GAS- delivery truck of acetylene gas tanks and oxygen plus some argon gas near by. Inquired about their argon gas, one(1) whole tank refill costs 2,500K and an empty full tank rental/deposit costs 7,000K , well same rental cost also for acetylene and oxygen tanks.

There is a sub plant of M-GAS at the boundary of the next town and ours, I'll pay them a visit and inquire some more sometime, I guess.

Hope this help and give you an idea on the pricing !!!!!!!!!! :p

Thank you Bro. I made a lot of touring around my area and found a couple of gas dealers. Cylinder deposit ranges 5k-6k, argon gas 2.3K-2.7K. I haven't bought yet.

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

@ vrcinfo,

Well I guess hindi pala nag kaka layo ang mga prices for gas contents and cylinder rentals, very minimal din ang difference. Well I checked another supplier nearby and they charge 6,500K
rental/deposit of one cylinder.

Ok, hope you get to buy or rent your gas soon so you can start using your welder. :chopper::clap:

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Do we have a structural engineer in the forum?

Thinking to install I beams in my garage to ride chain hoist w horizontal movement.

Two post and and an upper horizontal beam.

Max loading would probably be car engines.

What size I Beam ?

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Bro JayL,

You could be thinking of something like this bro or maybe similar, this one is movable. Borrowed from Miller welding projects.

http://www.millerwelds.com/interests/projects/ideagallery/project/5690269179/

A 3" or 4" diameter GI pipe schedule 30 will also be fine as its legs if you intend to do an A-FRAME type cranes. I've seen lots of this kind sa mga auto repair shops here in our area. GI pipes can easily be purchased from our favorite metal shops I guess. 😉

If you prefer the I-Beams, you can use a 3/8" or 1/2" thick, 6" X 10" wide I-Beams, length will depend on your specs. I think this will be more than enough for you intended purpose, kaya lang meron na rin syang paa with casters para movable, if not, eh di bolted sya sa concrete flooring. Now I just don't know where to source this and how much per foot or meter. 🙁

Hope this help !!!

Re: PHM Quick Chat Corner

Thanks for the reply bro ... I was thinking something permanent

here an upper horizontal I beam that will ride the hoist ( roughly 6m lenght ) w/ left right movements

then 2 permanent I- beam post na rin ... one on each side of the building posts

Looking from the inside out ..... left side

right side
