I am just wondering, where does the collected waste of Malabanan/Maynilad are disposed of? I never heard of any sewage treatment facilities in the country.

OH how I wish balarila is on line or could read this query, he is just the right guy who can give you the perfect answer where MANILA WATER is disposing the collected septic tank waste. I can tell you what he explained to me but rather you get the info from him.

With regards to Malabanan waste disposal, I suppose you have heard some bad news about their ways of disposing them septic waste in the news some months or years back. 😮

Re: Septic Tank waste disposal in the Philippines

I would rather not comment about Malabanan nor Maynilad.

I can speak for Manila Water, however, as I work there. We have two large septage treatment plants. Each one actually is the largest in Asia. One in the north (San Mateo) and one in the south (Taguig/FTI). Both plants are ISO/OSHAS accredited (9001, 14001, 18001).

We have more than 80 desludging tankers. These are specialized vacuum trucks that suck the contents of septic tanks, preferably every 5 - 7 years, then deliver the sludge to our septage plants for treatment. Solids are separated from liquid. Liquid is treated and discharged beneficially back to our rivers to help dilute existing pollution. Solids, after treatment, are dried and are trucked all the way to the lahar stricken areas in Tarlac as soil conditioners.

Desludging service is free for all Manila Water customers so long as it is part of the truck's rotation/schedule. Special requests are charged a hauling fee.

Hope this info is useful.
