Re: timber715 woodworks

I have some Bosch drill bits dating back maybe 15 years or more. Excellent plain vanilla Black Oxide coated drill bits Made in Germany. I have re sharpened these countless times now and these still gets the job done up to this date.

I wonder where these new Bosch drills are now made. If these new bits perform at least 80% compared to my old ones then I'm buying. The old Bosch bits are that good.

Re: timber715 woodworks

I will check later though as I know most accessories like these are made in European countries. but if they do perform well brader, does it really matter where they're made?

Re: timber715 woodworks

In my experience a tool's Country of Manufacture ( COO ) is just a reference. I get ( very often than not ) better performance and longevity from tools manufactured in USA, Germany and Japan to name a few. Expensive initial investment yes but in the long run it pays off. Push comes to shove I don't care where it's made if it meets the standards I set for my DIY shop. Other people's opinions might vary.

Re: timber715 woodworks

Same here.

Many multinational companies nowadays would never risk their company's reputation for cheaper manufacturing cost. Many of these companie shave learned that they can produce in cheap labor countries while maintaining quality by enforcing strict quality monitoring and control standards.

I recall during pre-iPhone days when Nokia was the most sought-after phone that the "made in Finland" units commanded a higher price in Greenhills than made-elesewhere. I had one made in China (I think) which performed as well as those from Finland.

Re: timber715 woodworks

Ingersoll Rand is one good example too ... They now manufacture in China in their own factory ... I do have some older Japanese made IR air tools but most of the new ones I have are now made in China. I kept buying because the quality and performance is still there. In addition these are a bit cheaper than their US manufactured air tools.

Re: timber715 woodworks

I on the otherhand do understand companies saving on production cost without compromising quality, afterall most or 90% of consumers (maybe more) will prefer a lower cost over anything else.
anyway the drills are made in Germany...

also we were able to make a frame...

bigfoot is this yours? someone brought it sa court without a name on it:ill:

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: timber715 woodworks

Very nice. Some questions for my education pls.

1. What was the thing you applied first? Sanding Sealer?

2. And the second? Wood stain?

3. What did you use for hinges?

4. What is the box for?

I have those same yellow triangles. Kaya lang, left them on the floor and my dog mangled them while I had a beer break.
