Hi, may i ask you guys what you think about china TIG welders?
i found this mitsuden TIG in olx

MITSUDEN 200A DC TIG Welding Machine (HF Type)
1Ph-220V
Heavy Duty
200A @ 60% Duty Cycle
IP21
Comes with TIG26 High Frequency Torch (3M) and 3Meters Ground Clamp
Summer Promo: Free Argon Regulator

6 Months Parts/Service Warranty

I think its a good deal for a begginer. whatcha think?

The price tag will leave budget for argon tank and consumables, im guessing i can make a 20k buget(including the welder) fit?

Re: Mitsuden tig

Hi bro twisted,

Well, can't say much or anything about MITSUDEN brand of welder, haven't tried using one
but I guess for a starter/beginner it will also be a good machine to start with. Just wish them
sellers would extend their warranty to a year instead of only 6 months.

When one buys a Tig machine, cables are always included for the torch and ground clamp
and even the argon regulator goes with it in the box, should not be considered as a promo.
Let's hope other members can chime in and share what they think of this welder.

GO GO GO if you plan to purchase it and if so please do share your findings or thoughts on the new
Tig machine so we may also be informed.

GOOD LUCK !! πŸ˜‰

Re: Mitsuden tig

Yup but im still thinking about it. i have a mig and i find it tedious to find parts and consumables for it. almost all parts differ from brand to brand, and im cheapo so i refrain from buying abroad. also the arco gas is very hard to find. all gas shops require 1 week or more to refill your tank, unlike argon theres a shop near us that swaps out the tank.

i think tig will be harder to learn but easier and cheaper to maintain, mig has just too many moving parts.

Re: Mitsuden tig

Hey bro twisted,

Allow me to ask, were you the one who recently got a new HiTronic Mig machine or maybe its
another member ? hehehe, just curious.

Anyway going back to the subject, Tig is a slow process welding but produces beautiful welds beads once you get the hang of it and master its applications. Commonly this process is used for thin walled surfaces provided they are well preped up to produce beautiful stacked like dimes weld beads.
Actually its the stick process of welding that is kinda difficult to learn or master specially in weld bead application, with different rod number specs to use, different sizes of rods used for thin and thick metals, different styles of applications in different positions, problem with slags, angles of stick and travel speed etc etc etc.

By the way wouldn't you like to try and check out HiTronic Tig 200S from GoldPeak Tools&Hardware,
owned by coolmaxheric, also a PHM member. Sells it for 13K with less 20%, so it becomes
Php 10,400 and with 1 year warranty. Plus this brand is also manufactured by Riland. πŸ˜‰
Just a suggestion only bro. hehehe πŸ˜€

Again good luck on your purchase !!

Re: Mitsuden tig

Hi Sir, Based on some researches I've made, there are many flavors of tig machines. Now if you will be welding aluminum, then you will be needing an AC/DC model. I agree with sir Rosy hi tronic is a good brand. I have their 250 F mig hi-tronic and so far as long as you fix all the kinks in the setup, it will perform reliably.

Re: Mitsuden tig

hi sir artisans,
wow that mig is industrial level na, i wont be welding aluminum since ac/dc tig's are expensive, im only looking for buget tig with high frequency arc initiation.

the main applications are ss tube welding and plug/spot welding of automotive body panels. im planning on using this eastwood product http://www.eastwood.com/tig-spot-weld-kit.html which allows me to spotweld body panels.

i know this could be achieved with a mig welder via plug welding but doing so will require me to drill holes on the body panel, which is time consuming. unlike tig i only need to initiate an arc and it will achieve spot welds without adding any filler(tipid sa consumables:) well atleast thats what eastwood claims, which is yet to be tested.

Re: Mitsuden tig

Hi again bro twisted,

If you don't intend to weld aluminum then you don't really need an AC/DC Tig welder,
plus mahal na din yan. Perhaps a simple Tig machine with HF or Lift Tig. The brand I mentioned
before will do just fine or probably a RILON brand, but you will have to consider this kind of
machines are a bit expensive compared to DC Inverter stick welders pero sure or sigurado ka
naman sa warranty and after sales service coming from their local dealer/sellers. πŸ˜‰

By the way the Eastwood spot weld kit looks cool and will really be very useful for your intended welding process.

Re: Mitsuden tig

hi rosy,
yup i agree, habol ko din yung after sales service ng mga localy available brands.

i emailed GoldPeak Tools&Hardware for the specs of their welder, kaya lang brochure lang ang pinadala, im still not sure kung high frequency start yung hitronic tig200s. would anyone in this forum know? tempting yung rilon and sure na HF start siya but sayang yung extra cost pwede na sanang pang argon.

the mitsuden brand is also HF start kaya lang hindi digital yung amp controls. what is the difference between a tig with digital amp display? is there a difference in weld quality?

I also just saw a week ago.
No problem πŸ™‚

They also added new units and phased out some, so goldpeak's website is outdated in a way..
Not sure if all new units is coming to the PH though.

Re: Mitsuden tig

kaso yung mga tig welders na nasa provided links are for three phase. tsaka yung arc 250 Amps model ay three phase din at 415 volts....

imo, mas ok na siguro yung DC MMA with Lift tig function for occasional tig welding even sa aluminum...according sa mga references, you do not need AC function for welding aluminum. preferred lang kumbaga ang AC. you can still weld aluminum using DC, pero di ganung kasingganda at linis compared to AC (accdg. to references and internet sources).

sir what are the difference between single, three phase? yup i just found out recently that dc tig can weld aluminum too, just not as clean. sitll so cool.

Re: Mitsuden tig

Finally bought a TIG, and went with rilon brand, since its with the most good reviews, but cheaper than more known brands. Also bought 15lb argon tank with content. Consumables na lang ang kulang.

Hinahabol ko sana to have the tig up and running this long weekend but I ran on some set backs.
I forgot to buy the hose for the argon. And the rilon unit didn’t have a power plug only the wire. And it has 3 wires. So I had to trace which one is the ground wire, so that I don’t fry the welder.

Ok lang ba yung 20 amp na rating for the plug? Its firefly brand I bought in ace ardware. Also, ok lang ba na tinganggal ko yung ground part ng power plug?
