I will buy socket wrench set (1/2 drive) soon. May I consult experts here on what are the good brands to consider? My budget is around 4-5k. Can I already buy a good quality with this budget? My brand on my mind are Koken, Aigo, Unior, Craftsman.. Why Snap-On is very expensive tools?
Is it true that 6 point sockets are better than 12 points, flower type because they grip better and less chance of stripping a nut.
I back read the Automotive Tools thread. Under page #10 where Timber715 discussed the date code for Snap-On socket wrenches which is very informative especially to the newbie like me. But there are hanging question there.. 1. What to look for when buying secondhand ones? 2. Are there local stores selling these tools? 3. Most of Snap-On tools are made by other tool company.. by whom? 4. Who are guys selling these locally? 5. Where to access warranty claims locally?

I have been using Steveman USA brand tools both 1/2 and 3/4 drive tools. So far they have performed very well. 6 points are really good in terms of holding power, but 12 points are good in tight spaces.
