Re: Bargain Alerts
i spent two days just browsing at the low prices at sulit for power tools. i am from cebu and surplus tools are not as abundant here.
i have already paid for an 18v ozito cordless drill for 1,100 + shipping. hope it will be shipped. hehe and hope it will work. these tools are actually in their manufacturer's website so we can check their specs first.
let me try this first and build up the trust between the seller. maybe someday ill be buying a CMS, thicknesser, etc. hope it wont be on fire. hehe
Re: Bargain Alerts
Hey that's a pretty good killing! Maybe someone would like to buy my mine too since I actually don't use it much anymore. Normally I use a 10" sliding compound miter saw, or SCMS as you would put it. Consider getting a SCMS as these can handle much wider materials than those that do not slide.
ADDED:
I found a picture of the saw.
hi lncc. are you selling still your CMS? I might need one for installation of our crown moldings. 🙂

Well I still have the saw. What are crown moldings?
Re: Bargain Alerts
ung molding po na inilagay between the beam and the ceiling.
so, how much are you selling the CMS?
Re: Bargain Alerts
Oh ok. I know them as cornices or "kornisa". You can have it for 2k but you have to pick it up at my house or at my office. If do pick it up at my office in Ortigas Center we won't be able to test it but I'll test it before hand for sure.

Re: Bargain Alerts
Bros, there is a Hitachi distributor here and they seem to be making a go into the consumer market. Last week I saw some Hitachi tools on sale at DIY. The router wasn't there but maybe, just maybe, if you call the local distributor, I'll have one with a good price.
What I saw at DIY was an angle grinder but it was MIC. I'm still planning to get a Makita since I use it often and sometimes quite heavily. Also, I prefer tools that don't look like a rubber shoe.

ahmmm... i am from cebu eh. pwede naman cguro nating ipa LBC.
i just received ung inorder ko sa sulit na 18V Ozito drill this morning. these australian tools are really good ah for the price.
Re: Bargain Alerts
Sorry Bro but that's what it looked like when it was new. I'll take a picture and post it so you know what you're buying. Hmmm ... Cebu? You might just want to look for one over there. I suspect you'll spend more than P500 having it shipped.
Re: Bargain Alerts
pardon my ignorance, but can a miter saw be use to cut metals like angle bars etc? maybe by changing the blade?
Re: Bargain Alerts
I know the aluminum shops use them yes by changing the blades. Steel I don't know. I have a cutoff saw for that. Most machine shops I believe use a power hacksaw or a bandsaw. Best would be to find an appropriate blade. I'll try to not forget to ask at the industrial supply when I go.

Probably if its aluminum then its ok provided the proper blade is used. I'm thinking about this too and a blade such as this.
I also found a Bosch Blade ( locally) that can cut like this for around 1,600 pesos. However I am not sure about the performance since I have not tried it yet.

Re: Bargain Alerts
For those looking for tools and are comfortable with surplus and repairing tools, you might want to check this out: http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/1409749/sash+woodworking+equipment . The seller says they prefer it be sold as a lot but are also open to individual pieces or lots.
I've got dibs on the bandsaw 🙂 ... joke but that's what I'm interested in the most.
