I have a biscuit joiner and some biscuits brought in from the U.S. Does anyone know where I can get WOODEN biscuits locally?

Re: Biscuits ... where to buy them locally?

Last time I checked Makita was selling them. When I bought a few years ago, It cost P400 for a bag of 100 Pcs. Now I heard its about P800-P1000 for the same bag.

I get mine by the thousand from my sister in the U.S. If you have a relative who can ship it to you, it cost about $30 for a thousand.

Re: Biscuits ... where to buy them locally?

LOL that's why I said "WOODEN biscuits".

Wow P1.35 (=$30 * P45/$ / 1000) compared to P8.00 a piece is quite big. Well I guess the joiner is staying in its case for now ... or till my mother's next visit. By the way, last year I had her bring tubes of PL Premium and 3M 5200 adhesive. The whole load was rejected by the airlines, security risk daw. They eventually arrived via a balikbayan box. The biscuits better take the same route come to think of it.

Re: Biscuits ... where to buy them locally?

The Japanese tools I mentioned on the other thread will come from Japan. For those want to buy though online from the U.S., you should buy in the U.S. and not retail in Japan because my saws did cost more than what is quoted on the U.S. sites. This is normally the case.

A group buy of biscuits? Sure. How about we take a roll call of what biscuit sizes everyone wants. I'll check what size I need. I've not used for a long time and was just reminded I had one when I went rummaging through the tools cases in the shop. I also found a mortizer drill press attachment, which doesn't fit my drill press :(.

But before we call roll can someone suggest a website we can get them from? One just outside California is best - minimum domestic shipping costs in the U.S. and no California sales tax. If I'm mistaken in anything I've said please say so.

For those that want to use biscuits but don't have a biscuit joiner, you could use this:

Please see the full article here: http://www.woodworkersinstitute.com/page.asp?p=533

Re: Biscuits ... where to buy them locally?

Good for you Bee that it fits. No I did not get it from pyth. I've had it for quite some time already. Yes I could be an Ozito but if we have same one then I'd not worry because it looks pretty solid.

What are fluted dowels? Where is this hafel anyway?

Re: Biscuits ... where to buy them locally?

hafele is a german branded cabinet/kitchen Hardware supplier. Although most of them are made in China

The green and yellow store has hafele items in stock but not the fluted dowels

Fluted dowels are simply dowels that have longitudnonal (i forget how to spell it) ridges. the ridges are supposed ti encourage glue volume.. i think

they are precut in diameter and length hence comes quite handy.
