I have a Trade Air, gauge 18 finishing nail gun. No problem the first time I used it. But when I am to use it again, no nail is being ejected although the gun is firing as I can hear the sound it makes and I can see the indentation to the wood. I can see no nail that is being stuck sa chamber because if there is, I know it will never fire.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks a lot.

Rule No. 1 - Detach the gun from the air hose when inspecting a problem.
Rule No. 2 - Do not attempt to fire the gun again till the problem has been traced. There might be a lodged deformed nail in the chamber that is preventing the striking pin from ejecting your nail. Firing the nailer with an issue like this damages the striking pin and the nail chamber.
Rule No. 3 - Always oil your gun before and after use.
Rule No. 4 - Let a professional technician diagnose your problem. If you have to do it yourself get acquainted with the schematics of the unit you are attempting to repair. There are 2 hex key screws in front of the gun tip that you can loosen and check if there is indeed a lodged nail.
Rule No. 5 Check the quality of the Brads you are using. I always encounter this problem with brad nails that are unbranded or bought from unknown vendors. If you can get them from reliable stores so much the better.

Thanks for the quick reply and thanks for the information. I always follow naman the safety measures when I am using my power tools. I enjoy woodworking and I want to remain that way.

Hey gregg, you probably did already, but did you happen to check the spring loaded mechanism that pushes the nails into the chamber? Just my 2 cents 🙂

Did you get this resolve? Just a thought did you count the nails if it actually fires, I'm no expert but I had a Bostitch with a depth adjustment, maybe just maybe the nails gone to far depth, that you only see the indention.
