I notice that many pictures of pipe clamps being used locally appear to show that the pipes are galvanized. Do the clamps slip on the galvanized pipe coating or are they secure? Or are the pipes painted with a silver paint?

Re: Galvanized pipe clamps

I use Schedule 40 galvanized pipes for my pipe clamps and have not noticed any slippage so far. I would have preferred black pipes but the galvanized ones are readily available at most hardware stores so this is what I purchased.

None the less I've seen black pipes for sale at Espeleta St. in Binondo. I might try this next time I get some more pipe clamps.

Re: Galvanized pipe clamps

I do use G.I pipes for my Ponies as well Dan, I prefer them over B.I. bec of its anti rust properties compared to the latter. I haven't any slips from them but the do bend a lot since I apply heavy pressure during clamping. I do have access to B.I. though not everyone does and chose the other. hope you can post your New Fangled workbench soon.
Cheers
