Re: lawanit supplier (mdf board)

MDF is different from lawanit a.k.a. masonite.

I think what you're looking for is 1/4" thick MDF. MDF is available at Wilcon and Home Depot.

Saan available ang lawanit/masonite? Matagal na akong naghahanap nyan. Its no longer available at the hardware stores near our place.

Also, please introduce yourself in the Member Introductions forum.

Welcome to PHM!

pagka alam ko 1 side smooth lang ang lawanit. mas mataas ang pulp(paper) content nya kaysa MDF. Would you kindly tell us what it is your intended application for it? tnx.

Re: lawanit supplier (mdf board)

Lawanit is still available in local hardware shops around my place here in Antipolo. I guess provincial stores would still have them. I have two 4'x8' pieces which are 1/4" thick, I think. If you need just a small amount and you are in my area, you are welcome to cut off some.

But lawanit, ever since I knew them, are always rough on one side. If the thickness you need would allow, you can probably glue them back to back to have both sides smooth.

In another post, I see you are looking for a way to come up with a curved book spine. Is this lawanit for that purpose?

Also, why lawanit?

Hi jhoana,

As joey81 said, lawanit panels are very much different from the MDF boards. And I am not sure if there are lawanit panels that are sold with thickness of 12mm, oh how I wish there are. In the provinces of Rizal, Lawanit panels are very much available in almost all neighborhood hardware stores but only at 1/8" or 3/16" to 1/4" of an inch thick. I use this type of panels too for my painting surfaces in substitute of canvas. The thicker ones seems to be very rare in the market and these types are already called tempered masonites.
