Brad if you are talking or referring to the old yellow colored 300 amp YAMATO AC weld machine, then I can give you some comments on the unit. I'm a proud owner of one.

Its bulky, hefty, and heavy but its durable and strong, its almost an industrial grade type next to the 500 amps and up. The 300 amps can already burn metal with 3/8" to 1/2" thickness without difficulty, easy to operate provided you know how. Does gives out a lot of spatters during weld application, well of course that is an AC stick welder, the electrical cord supplying power will have to be tapped to at least 60 amps main safety switch box or a circuit breaker compared to the new DC inverters now in the market which you can just plug in an ordinary 15 amps electrical socket.

Its a Taiwan made weld machine and not really that expensive. You can Google Industrialsupply143, headed by Ms Mimi G. They are a direct importer of this machine and you can be assured they are genuine YAMATOs . Though they also have the new compact 300 amp YAMATO with stainless steel casing. Their prices are very competitive and just fair, very much lower than mall hardwares or ordinary hardware stores. They have stocks readily available in their office/warehouse in QC. 🙂
