Had to look that one up. This is what a riving knife looks like:

I prefer to retain full-length fingers. Also, assuming a 10" blade going at 3650 rpm, the teeth would be going at 159 ft/sec or 175 kph. To get hit by wood at that speed sounds worse than hitting the windshield in a 100 kph head-on car crash.

The riving knife and splitter looks the same to me. Probably the lack of kickback pawls is more of a safety concern with regards to the Torque table saw posted..

Regarding the bosch 4100 and gts10. Beside the riving knife, what else is different?

The makita mlt100 was at a ridiculous price and apparently the only table saw Mayon has of makita brand

I never really looked it up bee. seems like the gts10 is the same ts as the bosch 4000. as for the Makita, they still have the 2703 iirc, but the fence sucks on it sand should be priced as the MLT100. only good thing about it is it is made in Japan.
as for riving knife, it should move with the blade in both height and angled cuts. otherwise it is a splitter.
others even insisted that the Jet ts available locally has a riving knife. It has only a splitter. but for what its worth, if it can do the same job in safety, it doesn't matter what its called.
the Makita btw, has a splitter too...

makita price for the MLT100 is at 35k. whats a good comparable table saw and where do i get one? i looked at the Jet brand sa Panda but parang madaming kulang sa kanya. its priced syempre way below the 35k mark.

Add a few more change and you can import a Bosch 4100 w/ Gravity Rise Stand for that amount of money. Lesser if you get it without the stand just like I did.

Thanks for clarifying the riving knife / splitter issue Timb.

Re: an insight to the PhilConstruct exhibit 2009

i will have to eat my words. I mentioned that i would rather save up and buy a dewalt 745 or bosch 4100. However upon dropping by PANDA const. supply. i culdnt help myself but buy the jet jts10!

the table sled is not as good as the reviews say. and the edge of the table needs to be shimmed for the length mark thing to fit in properly as well as the rail of the rip fence.. but i can live with it since i can probably shim it my self and do something about the sleds 🙂

9,800 pesos....

will assemble it all together once i get the time!

the table sled is not as good as the reviews say. and

what review are you referring to? were you able to run it yet? two or three of my friends has the same saw for several months now and their feedback are so different. one likes it a lot and the other sold his after some time and bought another brand (well he bought two other brands and ended with a 4100). Let us know what you think of it, having a ts for a little more than the price of a circular saw is always great. If only I knew you were going for a Jet, I could asked my friend how much he wants for his....

it was an impulse buy 🙁 maybe we should have a trading section here (or meron na ba?).

I read a few reviews on the net. It takes a little patience to sort through the google result but i found two reviews with feedbacks on both extremes. I havent run it yet as i am kinda sick lately, But i am hoping that ill be able to assemble it by tonight

Re: an insight to the PhilConstruct exhibit 2009

I am more inclined to wait and save for a dewalt 745 or the bosch table saw (2 forumers have it here) but these will have to be shipped from the US though 🙁

The local Bosch rep said:
I'm sorry but we don't have the plan to launch and sell the table saw this year and don't know have the plan yet even for next year. Anyway, in case you have any imported Bosch power tools aside from the Bosch table saw you are planning to purchase, you can still bring or send to our authorized service center. If the parts are not available, will place a special order for a certain parts so we can serve you and repair the unit.

If I interpret that correctly, it means that they will do warranty service of any Bosch power tool bought in US.

I don't know if the same would be true of DeWalt or other brands.
