Re: Automotive Tools

that is what I love about you Jay, the car comes home with a broken rim and you replace the whole suspension hehehe

Yes no kidding ... the front suspension got shot up. Mis aligned track rods and stabilizers plus ripped off axle boots and what not. Ask Moji he saw the car when it was down.

And to add to the injury nobody sells Slipstream mags per piece. Rota Italia was backordered by 6 months. We had to buy 1 set ( 4 pcs ) 2nd hand to get one piece. We scouted Banawe and Evangelista for months and no one had the size we needed. Luckily we found a set online. This is what made the car sleep that long in the garage. Now we're indefinitely stuck up with 3 spare mags. 🙁

The mags edges were not damaged much. The center hub was mis aligned and for this reason it can't be fixed anymore because it cannot be balanced.

There goes the budget for a Thicknesser up in the air and gone.

Currently we use Yokohama Advan Neova Tires. I might want to look at tires more closely again sometime. In search of better Traction.

It's back on the road again. We'll just wait for the Rear Suspension upgrades to arrive then we'll proceed with the engine works. We haven't decide yet if we will stay Naturally Aspirated ( Blueprint the engine ) or go with Forced Induction ( Turbo ).

Why would you spend for it instead of the driver? Maybe it was daddy Jay would made the slippy :drive1::naughty2:

On a serious note, is the driver's side coilover still ok? As I'm sure you can't buy them per piece as well. I love and hate looking at your SIR WIPs, it makes be feel sourgraping of not saving and getting one before :bye2:

It was my son John who had the slide. A car with stock suspension won't do that but it will roll over.

Thank God the coilover was not damaged. Sobra sakit sa bulsa talaga yan and you're right. You can't buy one piece only.

Jarod ... SIR resale value is very very good. Yes you should have purchased new one when you had the chance. We purchased ours second hand and paid a premium compared to other Honda in same class.

Re: Automotive Tools

The Honda SiR DOHC VTec engine is already very powerful out from the factory. Currently we only have bolt ons ( Intake Header Exhaust ) on it. We plan to later pull out the engine and try to give it more horses.

However before we do that we want to upgrade the instrumentation and put more gauges.

This car model is a PHDM but we upgraded the Dash board to USDM ( US Domestic Market ) specs.

We're still undecided if to use this for the additional gauges or a gauge pod.

We also installed a B&M Short Throw Shifter on it and upgraded the shifting mechanism bushings to Energy Suspension Polyurethanes.

Re: Automotive Tools

I know that this is suppose to be an auto tools thread but let me post some pics of the car interior since it's also part of the WIP.

No budget yet for 5 Points Seat Belts ... 🙁

Thanks for dropping by bro. Please post in our metal works when you do some WIPs.

Re: Automotive Tools

The new suspension bushings changed the ride height of the car. Somehow it raised it and now we need to recalibrate again and lower the car.

These are the spanners used to adjust the ride height of Tein Coilovers.

Loosen up the base rings ...

Adjust to desired height ...

Tigthen the rings back. This a sometimes a very tedious process. Adjust , road test to settle suspension to normal after jacking up , probably recalibrate again etc... If one does not enjoy doing it then it will be a chore.

I can shoot pics but personally I would not do the wrenching myself if given a choice .... LOL.

This is the model of the Coil Overs installed. Tein Control Master Type Flex ( Civic / EK9 body )

Emperor Motors or Auto Technika would probably charge 500 pesos per side for job like this.

Re: Automotive Tools

I will have a need for this Heyco Piston Ring pliers later so I wanted to clean up the rust. Initially I wanted to do an electrolysis job but I don't have baking soda. Decided to first try what's available on hand which is vinegar. Let's see how good vinegar soaking works on rust. They say molasses/water mix also works well with stuck up rusted parts but I have not tried it yet.

Re: Automotive Tools

Glad to hear the Tein is spared. Not sure if you guys already tried the Potenzas and the Toyo Proxes for more grip.

Emperor are mostly for the those have the moolah to spend without having their hands getting dirty, but those are just my observation and i don't mean anything bad.

What gauges are you planning to put, Defis?

Re: Automotive Tools

Imagine if we are spending for service. The cost will file up quickly so this is best left with DI Y and the money saved used for buying tools. None the less the setup cannot be brought to a regular mechanic. Lots of stuff that needs to be read and studied to do the job properly.

Moji ... I know you like Knipex Pliers too ... here I got some more

12" Cobra and 10" Angled Diagonal Cutter

Hose grip pliers .... one will appreciate this when working with automotive hose related tasks .. makes it a lot easier. By the way when taking out and installing hoses a few spray of WD40 will ease up the job.
