Re: Automotive Tools

@ Jarod
This is the first time I'm hearing "coking". Does it remove rust too?

Yep, just like the vinegar the acid in the coke eats up the rust.

I don't think so. It only works up to the rust marks. This the first time I tried this but on my observation it basically floats the rust so you can at times even peel if off the metal surface.

Re: Automotive Tools

You can use diluted muriatic acid to remove & etch the rust. After removing the rust soak it in diluted baking soda to neutralized the acid.

Iron reacts with muriatic acid and releases dangerous fumes be sure you wear your personal protective equipment.

I'll try this next time when I get baking soda. Let's see if it can do a better job and work on the rust marks too.

Re: Automotive Tools

Actually Jay what I meant is the opposite. The real ones are sour due to the natural fermentation unlike the synthetic ones which are basically composed of water acetic acid and caramel to add some taste and color. So the synthetic ones (mostly the ones we buy in the grocery even if they claim to be all natural) are better to use because it contains real acid made by man.

I know because I used to make vinegar way before I knew what was acid all about.

Re: Automotive Tools

Moji you're lucky to get a German Version on the Wiha. I believe these are now manufactured in Vietnam.

Knipex ... you can't go wrong with these. Congrats for the nice tools.

Welcome to the Dark Side .... LOL KEENEEPEX. :attack:

Re: Automotive Tools

Our Toyota Rav4 AC fan just gave up the ghost.

Here's 700 pesos worth of a surplus Denso motor. New one quoted was 10.5K. Might as well chance up at this used one and hope it holds well. Just make sure to choose when buying surplus ... yun medyo sariwa pa and test it well in the store. Fan speed, physical, wires if any, shaft play etc.. Warranty is 1 week.

Housing and fan blade included but won't be needed as I will use the existing ones. Probably just keep these for spares.

If your radiator or AC fan won't turn anymore but when you make " tok tok" it suddenly turns then most probably the brushes are going bonks. These are usually sealed type motors and non repairable.
