Met with one of the top guns of B&D/Dewalt yesterday and I'm happy to report that they have been with PHM for a while already. Ramrac, one our members told me that support will be available here (meaning technical inquiries and the like) and special notices too. And that they will be supporting several PHM activities.
Promised Ramrac that I will create this thread to cater to inquiries, questions and suggestions...
All I can say now is welcome B&D/Dewalt to PHM and we appreciate having you here...

Hey That's Great News!
Was a fan of B&D since tis the first power tool I got to use since my early teens. T'was around the mid-70's, and electric drills don't have the double insulation on the bodies as they have nowadays. Some of the newbies probably didn't know that its full metal bodies way back then.
Welcome to PHM!
Black & Decker Power Tool Trade In Promo
I don't know where subforum to put this. There might be members who may be interested.
Re: Black and Decker/Dewalt Thread
Is this for any brand? What if I want to trade-in a MIC (made in China) or one of the surplus like Ozito? Does the service level (i.e. professional, home use only) have to be the same?

as far as the previous promos, yes, it applies to any brand. But Louis, try getting the green B&D if you can... avoid the red ones...

Hi, timber715. The red/orange ones are of inferior quality? In what way?
I have a cordless drill that is no longer working. It was just a gift years ago. China-made. I didn't even know the brand. The quality was not good. I was thinking of trading it in.
Is SKIL drills better than B&D drills?
The guy at the store told me that Bosch is better than B&D. Bosch and Skil drills are also on sale, at discounted prices. But not as much as the 40% on the orange/red B&D drills.
Re: Black and Decker/Dewalt Thread
the red/orange B&D's are intended for DIY use as far as I'm aware. Meaning home use the will be used occasionally and not for heavy duty or contractor grade. The green one I was told will last much longer and is of better build. as far as Skil they belong to the same class but a bit better. if you can get a Bosch, I believe it would be a better choice though it belongs to a higher class, it also will cost more than the red B&D's.
but if you intend to use them for home use like drilling once every now and then, the prices can dictate what you want/need...

Thanks for the info, timber. Helps a lot. 🙂
Btw, the green B&D drills are not on sale. 🙁

Re: Black and Decker/Dewalt Thread
am looking for an angle grinder but with a variable speed feature, 4" is ok.
If it were cordless, even better.
Christmas Cheers to one and all !
PS: why is it that in cordless tools, the battery pack is not part of the warranty ? How does that go ?
Re: Black and Decker/Dewalt Thread
the cordless battery is covered by warranty, except that it is usually shorter than the warranty of the tool itself. For B&D cordless, we cover it with 1-year warranty for both the battery and the charger, for Dewalt, it is 6-months.
