I'm thinking of getting a cordless rotary hammer since i have difficulty drilling concretes specially at-standard constructed concrete walls. I'm thinking maybe, a rotary hammer can provide added power. Any comments?

Re: cordless rotary hammer

My home use B&D hammer drill is again shot :<. Probably because I've been lending it to my neighbors. I don't mind so much because I now seldom use it except for drilling jobs that need extra power that a cordless drill can't handle. Also, I've this electro-pnuematic corded SDS drill that is specifically meant for concrete and rock work.

I got the drill again from a "junk pile". The mode mechanism, which switches it from drill only to hammer drill mode, was busted. I just welded the mechanism permanently into hammer drill mode which suits me fine. SDS I learned refers to the type of bits. The bits are more expensive but are real heavy duty. You can also set the drill to hammer mode only and attach SDS chisel bits when you just want to break stuff. The thing works and sounds like a jack hammer.

Unfortunately, I've not had an opportunity to really use it extensively. I did test it on a couple of rocks and concrete. It made short work of them. Really fun when you are in destroy something mood. Wearing safety goggles or a face shield is a good idea.

In the malls I've seen these selling for about P10k. The bits start from about P300.
