Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

Try HMR along Pioneer St., Mandaluyong, or Save On Surplus in the malls. Bear in mind that these use a 50 Hz motor so you not get the same performance. It would work though.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

The GMC will be fine just don't get fooled into thinking you are buying 2HP when you are really not. You'll be safe if you compare the price of a regular 1.5HP to a 2HP GMC. Personally, I don't think the price difference between a non-GMC compressor and a GMC compressor is worth the lack of a warranty.

So I ended up buying a Vespa Direct Drive 2HP compressor from my favorite industrial supply. The direct drive kind are slightly more expensive than the belt driven kind but direct drive charges faster.

If you are going to paint your car I strongly suggest you get a model with a regulator or you have one added. Pros can set the pressure using the valve but they do this all the time. I also suggest you buy a gravity fed spray gun - it is very much easier to use. I bought mine in a paint center for only P900 something.

Keep in mind that I am not a professional, DIY only.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

How much dd you pay for your 2 HP Vespa Direct drive? I have checked the 1 HP Vespa belt driven for 13K. Do you reckon direct drive s better than the belt driven one for garage use?

Could you please recommend me an industrial supplier because I am out in the market for a compressor and so far I have only checked from hardware stores and malls.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

I bought mine mid-2006 for P5600 (I think). According to the store, the direct drive fills faster. I don't use my tools professionally so it would be better to get an opinion for a pro.

I saw your topic for an industrial supplier but you mentioned you are in Pasay whereas all my suppliers are in eastern metromanila. If you'd like their numbers, tell me and I'll try to dig them up.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

Thank you very much for your reply.

I already bought a Vespa 1 HP belt driven for 9,600 pesos at Binondo.
My concern now only is that I did not receive a manual for it.

The ratings say 100 PSI.

Can anybody please tell me if I can run this unit to 114 PSI. I've seen similar units (Vespa / Viva 1 HP belt driven ) which can run this pressure. I just don't understand why the difference in specifications.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

I don't remember getting a manual either. My Vespa is set for 120 psi but I've never noticed a stamped rating. Does the unit you bought have a regulator? This could be another reason it is expensive. I suspect your tank is also larger.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

My tank capacity is 88 liters and the pressure cutoff is set at 7 kg or 100 PSI. I suspect that I can still adjust the pressure switch to at least 110 PSI but have not done so till now. Did you receive your compressor set at 120 PSI or have you done any adjustments to increase the pressure?

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

By the way my unit does not have a regulator but am planning to get one. Best Achievers in Binondo quoted me 850 pesos for it. Where do you buy your air tools? I saw some kits at amazon.com and the prices are attractive. Of course I just have to ship the items over here which is an added cost. I wonder if I could get good deals locally for quality air tools such as those made by Campbell Huasfield.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

My compressor was set to 120 psi when I bought it. I think your tank is much larger than mine and the pump probably has a higher air rate which is why it is more expensive.

Airtools I understand need 120 psi. So if you are going add a regulator, I suggest you have outlets installed before and after the regulator. This way you don't have to reset the regulator every time you need full pressure.

Actually the only air tool I have is a socket driver and a nail gun ... I think. I also have several paint guns but I'm not sure if these are considered "air tools". I bought these all over so I can't be of much help on where to buy. I do see airtools at the industrial supply store near our place.

Re: GMC Air Compressor AC30G

Factory setup from Vespa have already two outlets. I can use one for the regulated air and one for the unregulated.

My only concern now is the low 100 PSI pressure and I am tempted to adjust it to 115 PSI.
