hi,

traditionally, it will be a toolbox that our fathers or perhaps even grandfathers used. for powertools it will usually be the plastic blow molded case or a nylon bag that came with it, if it did. other seem to just hang them around specially for those who work on a daily basis and/or if you have the luxury of space.

given the situation that i don't "play" with my "toys" on a daily basis and that i don't have real estate to spare, i opt on getting a mobile storage system. this lead me to http://www.bosch-l-boxx.com/gb/en/index.html . sad to say is, i still have to ship it here - the painstaking wait! for the sake of organization, i think the price is just about right. but personally i'd prefer if the box was more generic. same make without the huge brand stamped.

dewalt has its own version of this by the price tag is too high for home use. it's targetted anyway for industrial abuse.

who do you store yours?

Re: how do you keep your tools?

iirc, Veto tool bags mentioned in another thread before. Seemed a bit over the top, so got one of the Custom Leathercraft bags instead (this one) from online. OK so far, looks well made.

As always, storage issues in general...
mobile (taking only selected tools/accessories) vs. in shop (everything in its 'proper' place)
flexible/adaptible vs. customized but fixed interior
soft (self-cushioned) vs. hard exterior (needs cushioning/restraint when in vehicle)

Lboxx appears more reasonably priced than systainers but looks like just a bare box, most needs customizing. Yes, it would make one a walking advertisement ... even more than one may already be. For now, am content to keep the power tools in their odd-sized cases and bring whichever is needed. Those which didn't come with one are either small enough to put in a bag or carried bare for now or too big for a case or to bring.

Anyone care to explain/justify systainers? I'm all ears (well, maybe half-covered).

the thing is, some power tools don't come in molded cases, some just come in boxes.
