Re: magnifying lamp

I'm 50 and I definitely need one. Which "favorite" tool store?

Is that fluorescent or LED? Replacement bulbs?

I guess at P1k+...

Ganon? E you were asking Jarod to read the label off the Triton just awhile ago.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: magnifying lamp

Panda Binondo brader..maybe available there as well.

Vision begins to decline at about age 40...normally...earlier if you have diabetes and uncontrolled one.

Now i wear my progressive eyewear when i watch TV, movie, driving or whenever i want to see a clearer picture...except in front of the monitor..now i have become farsighted...these #8 fonts i am typing right now is very distinct and sharp..12 inches and nearer my eyes then its blurry.

In about 1 year, you may need to see your optometrist and have another check up and if you want the best for your eyes, another set of lens again with a new grind. Agh!

Frequent headaches maybe caused by declining eyesight and as a result of reading, and reading in dimlit rooms.

But headaches can be a sign of high blood as well..so check your bp once in a while especially if it runs in the family.

Sorry, OT na.

please check.

Re: magnifying lamp

A bit of OT but since we're on the topic of failing eyesight:

I wear reading glasses and absolutely need them in woodworking. Do you know of eye protection gear that could be worn on top of eyeglasses? I know there are custom prescription goggles but probably won't work for me because, since my far-sight is perfect, I prefer wearing my reading glasses a bit low so I tilt my head up or down depending on how far my object of focus is (you oldies know what I'm talking about for sure!). So are there eye protection gear that can fit glasses inside?

Re: magnifying lamp

No no no no no doc V,

You are not out of topic here, we are glad you are reminding us symptoms or signs of failing eye sights specially when one reaches the age of 35 or 40. I'm 55, wow nag kakalabasan na ng mga
edad, 😀 he he he he, anyway I have two sets of eye glasses one for driving and one for reading and I think I need another one, for computer use coz every time naka babad ako sa front ng monitor posting and reading replies for PHM, pag tigil ko or when I'M done, WOW ang tingin ko sa buong paligid ay double images or malabo, I guess my reading glasses which I also use for computer e hindi kaya at na iistrain ng husto eyes ko. 😮 🙁

Same here with me sir ding, I find it hard not to use my reading glasses when measuring task is needed and when have to do detail works on a project, even so when I'M grinding metal plates.

I did try using the large goggles over the reading glasses, for a while it was ok but kinalaunan wala na akong makita, all fogged up inside my goggles and reading glasses. 🙁

I switched to using the large visor sir ding, the one with the clear plastic covering or protecting the whole face and it was just great, no more fogging on my reading glasses.

I think I posted this kind of protective visor sa ibang thread, I think its the safety gears and equipment section when metal working or so. May be you can look it over bro, its very useful and practical. 😎

Re: magnifying lamp

Reminds me of the movie Notting Hill. Hugh Grant had to wear a diving mask in the movie theater kasi nasira yung eye glasses nya. 😀

Para hindi OT. Maybe a face shield will allow you to wear your eyeglasses underneath. And maybe it won't fog up because it doesn't have a small confined area that traps water vapor.
