been planning this for ages...
as we know..slide compound miter saws do take up precious space but who else want dusts here and there..my shop space is sooo small and housing the scms is no big joke...but id rather have a small space than regularly vacuum dusts on the floor produced by this tool.
i made first the base to cover the sides and back made of laminated mdf...this base is u-shaped to "embrace" the base cabinet..

Re: Makita LS1013 SCMS dust "house"
if i make the whole "house" out of mdf its going to be very heavy..and i thought of the extra polycarbonate sheets...
here the polycarbonate plastics is inserted to the rail and stile frames..now lighter...i you look further, the front portions has doors as well to minimise dusts going to the front...here installed stainless piano hinges so i can open this door from time to time to clean up the mess inside..
i know the build isnt perfect but should function as it is..i am satisfied..except...the space it took.:(

Re: Makita LS1013 SCMS dust "house"
nice work brader, I like the polycarbonate material choice, very smart. Does the shroud have a vacuum attachment at the back yet? para if it does, it minimizes maintenance on it lalo....

Re: Makita LS1013 SCMS dust "house"
@timber,
thanks bro..
eh problem ko nga yung vacuum hose...it is just snaking into the front portion..the collecting base is level lang kaya dun lang maiipon yung dusts..it will take me another year or more perhaps to redo the contraptions.
at least na contain ko na yung dust! hehe
hirap na kasi ako magyuyuko to vacuum the dust collecting on the floor...
naiiipit si liver..agh!
take care.
