Re: Need Help How to remove Miluakee SDS plus chuck?

Why are you trying to remove the SDS chuck?

If it's to try to swap in a conventional straight-shank chuck, I am not
even sure that's possible. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The SDS drillbit-shank's grooves and dimples don't just allow easier bit
insertion, but also allow a firmer grip on the bit. This is important since
SDS hammer-mode is said to deliver hammering action of such greater
strength, as would shake most ordinary straight-shank bits out of their
straight-shank chucks.

Obviously not all driling applications require hammer-action, and most
SDS drill makers sell adapters: essentially straight-shank chucks with an
SDS-style dimpled shank in their rear. They don't come cheap, though:

An alternative is to start investing in SDS bits.

In the same product link you initially posted, there's a parts diagram in pdf format.
If you've already got the rubber dust cover (1227) off, and depress the release
collar (1214) AND the spacer tube (253), as if to release a bit. This should expose
the snap ring (1226) --which I guess is your problem. If it's Bosch-style, then the
snap ring (1226) can be removed using a pair of circlip pliers. If not... *sigh*

With the snap ring (1226) off, everything from the spacer tube (253) down to the
detent ball (256) and collar-spring (255) can be slipped off the SDS spindle (232).
That would then let you begin to remove the plastic gearcase (200), after you also
uninstall out the mode-selector switch (261) <---which involves two bugle screws.

In your shoes I'd take it to the Milwaukee distributor elsewhere posted
(on Timog Avenue in Quezon City, after calling first) and pay for servicing,

because the odds of DIY rendering the tool unusable seem fair to strong. If you
damage the snap ring, you may seriously pay for it later while using the tool. JM2

Re SDS+ adapters: Going down the cost scale...

Bosch versions:
www.amazon.com/Bosch-1618571014-SDS-plus-Shank-Integral/dp/B0009H5RFM/
http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-HA3JAW-2-Inch-Keyless-SDS-plus/dp/B0062ICGEM/

An option is just the thing with thread (arbor?) without the chuck, e.g.,
http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-725792-Adapter-1-2-Inch-20thread-Hammers/dp/B000M9LA3K
http://www.amazon.com/Eazypower-30205-2-Inch-Adapter-20-UNF/dp/B0014TKL6O

I got offered this by a local dealer (Gold Tools), P450, and thought WTH. It says "JACOB USA". (Jacob not Jacobs.)
