Re: new toys
You're welcome timber. Actually among the many Ryobi/Ozito items scattered around sulit, here are my faves:
- Circular saw
- Random Orbital Sander
- Router/Laminate trimmer
- Mortising Kit
- Scroll saw!!!
I'm just worried since these tools are priced very low and was sent here from the Australian market.
Re: new toys

As master Yoda says, "Hmmm... I smell a sulit shopper in you" :p
Please do update us about your SS and your blade replacement. I'm very interested in this Ryobi Scroll Saw but at 4K, I'm torn between this and a brand new Jet just liek yours.
Re: new toys
Do NOT buy Ozito unless you are desperate. They may look pretty much the same as other good too brands however the quality of the materials is of a lower quality. The plastic is softer as are the castings.
Sorry Rolly but I don't have a spare blade guard I know of right now but if I do find one I'll let you know. In the meantime, please be very very careful. It would not be terribly difficult to make one yourself I think.
I have the same biscuit joiner. Work well enough as far as I can tell.
Ryobi angle grinders ... most of my tools are of these brands however kind of as a rule I don't select these brands for angle grinders. Angle grinders are brutal tools by nature so my angle grinders have only been LG and B&D. I'd really like a Makita but ... If anyone does use a Ryobi angle grinder please tell me how it goes.
Re: new toys
bbn,
Are you referring to ALL Ozito for that matter? If that's the case, how about the Ryobi's? Are they better or at least at par with the other entry level brands?
Re: new toys
also Rolly, can you check if it is 50 or 60Hz... thanks

Yes based on my experience Ozito tools are very much inferior to Ryobi and GMC. Powercraft seems ok but I don't have much experience with those. I guess you could say I've a good amount of experience with these because I used to buy, refurbish, repair and sell these. On a scale of 1 to 10, with Makita at 10, I put the Ryobi, GMC and Ozito at 7-8, 6-7, and 3-4. Those at 1 are the "counterfeits" that were mentioned on another thread. My scale is not based on feature set but rather the quality of materials and workmanship.
Re: new toys
Is this the table saw you are referring to Rolly?
This is exactly the same saw I salvaged the saw mechanism I used in the TS I show in my workshop thread. As others have said, you get what you pay for. The reason these saws are less expensive than say the Jet or Bosch is that their mechanism is made from stamped sheet metal instead of castings. While the stamp metal sheets used are of a significant gauge, I pretty sure they are not as rigid as those that use castings. What I find wanting is really that the curved rack gear used to adjust the angle is made of plastic and the locking mechanism uses a cam which at least on the saw I have does not lock as firmly as I'd prefer.
Re: new toys
Here's something I highly recommend:
I have 2, maybe 3, of these and I use them a lot. I had to re-glue the pads and these do get worn down over time but this is to be expected. The only major problem is getting the Velcro backed sanding disks. I had to import my stock from the U.S. I think they are available in Binondo. Be conscious though that the disks do cost about 30%-50% more but for me that's ok because having these makes sanding bearable.
Oh I should also say I find the sanding results of these better than those rectangular ones. I have one of those too but I don't use it anymore.

it's not really just 2nd hand ryobi saws, but all surplus table saws (it's just that most surplus table saws that we see around are ryobis). im just not knowledgeable and skilled enough yet to tune and repair and figure out potential disasters from these hardcore surplus tools.
and also, knowing that i'lll be using the ts a lot, im more keen on getting a new one.
that sulit seller has a ryobi thicknesser for 5k, but i still got a new jet because of my expected usage frequency, sana lang it can really live up to my expectation (tool lifetime and overall wa-bang)
