Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

Nice ... very nice! I think I'll clean my shop this long weekend :). Honestly, had I not noticed the cans of Boysen paint under the workbench on the left I would have asked if you are in the Philippines or not.

Seriously bro that a nice workshop you have there, with lots of space to boot. What's that high table on the rightmost side of the picture for?

Thanks 🙂

The high table in the workshop is a movable utility table (with wheels) i will have to put a "box" in the middle of it running all the way along the length to make it more useful. Hehe taga pinas po ako. All my items were bought from Wilcon Depot.

The room at the back will hopefully become my "painting room".. i hate painting though

I will post a larger version of the second pic by tomorrow or this weekend

Cheers!

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

I reposted the second pic.

Hi Timber. I saw your bench... it's absolutely gorgeous! So far i still cant make elegant joinery. I am still at the butt joints and screw stage.

Of all the places TipidPc! 🙂 nice....

By the way timber. Where did you get your side mounted vise?

I will post more pic by the end of the week. Along with my tools.

I was under the impression that i may not be able to find fellow hobbyists here in Philippines.

I live in quezon city by the way.

Now... to find A mortise/tenon pencil thingy tool! cant find any...

Cheers!

Ben

I found them in a small store before in Binondo, they were close shop and I got several for myself. if you are interested pm me and I could probably sell one.
pencil thingy: hmmm, we just use the ones in National bookstore. the mechanical pencils with a 0.5mm tip, works fine...

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

Grab one of those vises from Timber. I had to get mine from the U.S.

For pencils I use these triangular shaped Mongol pencils you can sometimes find at National Bookstore.

@Timber, why don't you guys at TipidPC come over here? This place seems more appropriate.

I really would love to, unfortunate as it seems that the site isn't really for my craft, the population and visibility is larger. plus I do get plenty of questions regarding tool help or techniques regarding computer related modification (which I was for a certain period of time) and exposure is just greater. I've been getting plenty of lurkers into woodworkers or diy'ers.
I don't mean to get them from here to there Incc, I always visit this site daily and answer when I can. its just that woodworkers should be together so we can alleviate the craft to a higher level IMHO.

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

No problem at all, Timber. Though I no longer consider myself a woodworker, I still think woodworking is a great hobby that is worth sharing with others.

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

Honestly, I don't think it is unethical. Sorry if my post suggested it.

Actually, I was suggesting you invite your woodworker friends at TipidPC here since they might benefit more on this board being more focused on their interest. TipidPC is after all dedicated to computers, and is a heavily commercial site for trading.

How about you ask the owner's of this site for a separate forum for woodworkers? I'm sure they'd welcome it.

I second Incc63's suggestion of a dedicated woodworking/carpentry sub forum

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

ernie,
two guy from our forum has them. they had mixed results. one is a very happy camper and the other the exact opposite. I believe it really depends on ones needs. cutting plywood or sheet good should give results, cutting other types of woor, should give varied results from ok to scary, at least that is what was posted. see for youself, and decide...
cheers
