Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

how I wish we have our own house with my own space like yours.

although i'm not into woodworking, i've got some tools already mostly for cars and metal works. i just cannot invest on tools anymore because i don't have the space to store them.

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

i even brought a big piece of rough Kamagong when i went to Panda Hardware hoping that i could run the JET TABLE saw and try the plainer thicknesser as well, unfortunately they dont have it there and the owners did give me a funny look when i asked if they would allow me to try it first. parang to them they expect that people just walk in and if they do like the table saw (cosmetically) then they's shell out the 18k for it. i would really would rather test run a unit then if things goes well then i reach for my wallet and pay for the good stuff.

hhhhaaayyyy... how i wish that thats how they sell units.

Binondo has them, though I don't think they will let you run it. Makita on a good day probably would. but on a day when there is little traffic, otherwise, they will not let you run it too. if you can, do like some of us and order the Bosch 4100 in the U.S.. three of us locals have it and I reckon all of us are happy with it. you just have to wait 2 months though for shipping. landed cost should fall around 40K (that what I roughly paid) but I got the one with the gravity rise stand (model 4100-09).

I think you could make space if you really want. my workspace is roughly 5' x 7' that I share with the laundry room. and in it I have my workbench...

if you have one car parking space, you would have twice the space I have... 🙂

our apartment have a maids room turned into a storage room where we put all our stuffs including my hardware. unfortunately, the parking space is detached from the apartment itself so no chance of making it a workspace.

from time to time, i still manage to do somethings in the lawn if it is nor raining.

I really hate going to binondo... But if my ich persists. I shall brave through the narrow pedestrian filled streets 🙂

Fourtheboys - if you have a lawn... you can build a shack/shed just like what Incc63 did. he has his workbench thread in the tools sub forum as well.

i can definitely do that. however, i dont want to risk being evicted because of that. i live inside a university. wifey's office (which owns the housing unit) is just leasing space inside the university as part of a multi-national agreement. they cannot even put cement on our garage without a permit. if only our ancestral house is near us. it has 5 rooms with 4 occupants (including 1 infant). there'll be a lot of space.

Ayos Bro! I don't feel too bad about not fixing my workshop, hahaha.

Is that the bandsaw you want to get rid of? PM me what you'd like for it.

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

good newsssss.. i had 4 of my workers com over today for the workshop clean up. di na sya cluttered ngayon. nakatambak naman sa isang side... hhhhayyyy... if you really want things done right.. you have to do it urself. sir, thats the saw that i dont intend to use na.. just give me what you think its worth and lets pick it up from there.

walang problem yan. medyo mabigat sya. i used my elf to bring it home and had it disassembled muna before we were able to carry it papuntang workshop

Hahaha my thoughts exactly. Came home today and found tools out in the open, some metal scraps the thing my "apprentice" is building on the ground. When he came back this evening to discuss our project, I did not offer him a beer :<.

Don't you just envy Beebeenator's neat workshop.

That heavy .... I'll send you a PM bro.

sobrang ganda nga eh.. actually i have spare na inter-locking I na made of this rubber. im thinking na lay out ko sa workshop ko. but then again it would be so hard to sweep the floor pag ginamit ko yun. the best talaga is that tiled work area.. ang linis linissssssss.... pag laki ko ganyan din workshop ko... hahahahaha:rolleyes:

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

ernie,
what you lack is storage lang. build several cabinets and designate you tools in specific places. it is much easier to find them when you need them and after a while it becomes a very good habit. your place is huge compared to mine, I mean huge... with a view to match, but with plants around mosquitoes will have me for food regularly (I'm a mosquito magnet).
on tiles, while they are easy to maintain, they tend to be slippery with water or sawdust. especially sawdust from the TS which becomes powder and fine. a good cemented floor would be great, a painted one would be easier to clean and sealed from moisture. just choose the right paint...

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

yep, those lamok are really a pest. i have a few spray bottles of Off lotion sa workshop. and when i am working there i chande to my over-alls para sarado yung lahat ng pwede makagat ng pests. i added an extra area sa workshop yesterday. poured new cement sa isang side pa nya. yung first area ko is a 4m x 6 m space.. i added mga 4m x 5m more. still have to wait for the cement to cure before i can transfer some of the clutter to the other side. the view will eventually be filled with water. its my pond para while working sa workshop may ambiance para sa creative juice.???

tama nga yung sa tiles ahh.. hehehehe.. dulasin pa naman ako.

Re: newbie here and my workshop!!

The router bit block slides along the shelf. Since the shelf has a gap in between running the whole length the block doesnt slip coz it has two screws underneath that rides the gap. Its two 2x4" with a space in between. Holds chisels quite nice as well.

I screwed up the bottom shelf though. I used a 1x4" and tried to route the entire length in the middle... suffice to say i still need more practice in routing.

much better tool space than before..
