i will start this thread for the benefit to those who have yet to design and implement storage solutions in their workshop

space is just like clamps.. There is never enough!

Also since i hardly did any for myself i encourage the more experienced among us to post theirs 🙂

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

i have a 9 x 11 feet of surface area for all my tools..and these includes my oversized workbench, router table and tablesaw...yes, its also my problem how to organize the mess.

storage for the clamps, screws, paints, sandpaper, etc etc etc..

agh!

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

Wow 9 x 11..... thats 80% of my workshop i think

one of the reason i wanted to encourage folks on storage is that i have been "nesting" lately. I once thought "nesting" only happens to women...

Wel i have been having the "nesting" tendency in my workshop. Hence i have been obsessed with drawers.

Finally all the paint cans stay hidden... and much more easier to access

Finally the underneath of the TS isnt a hell of a mess

I tried as best as I could too to regain space when I built the RT and DP stands by incorporating drawers.

Lots of surplus shelves in Evangelista St. in Makati.

I purchased this for 1,500 pesos and painted it.

This tall one I got for 2,000 pesos but didn't paint it anymore.

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

question regarding drawers. Me.. i take a MINIMUM of 2 hours PER drawer... at hindi pa perfect.

Those drawers i showed. They took one night each to finish. Is there any trick to it? coz online stuffs are straight forward but never seemed to really work for me 🙁

I always seem to have to measure on the fly kasi mali mali labas ng actual.. grrr.. always several adjustments and shimming for it to fit and slide smoothly. I just made another drawer to night... it was the worst ive done so far hahaha

Although i do suspect that my drawers spaces are not perfectly squared, since they were all made haphazardly

hahaha, been there and stayed there for a while. aligning drawers are usually a pain. it starts with not having a square carcass. seem that when my carcass is square installing drawer slides is a breeze...

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

i see i see so i have confirmed my suspicion.

Regarding the deduction of size of the drawer width in relation to the carcass. meron bang rule of thumb cm deduction that is sure shot for botth bearing and roller type slides?

i also noticed roller type drawer guides are much more forgiving to un-squared carcass

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

I either use Kreg to do my drawers or a Drawer Locking bit on the RT.

Mine are just simple ones as this two ways are by far the only joinery technique I know how to use. I found it easy to build when stocks are prepared first on the TS.

commonly it is an inch Bee, but our full extension and other slide are not always standard...
