Pegboard

Great storage solutions, but doesn't anybody use pegboards anymore ? I've been looking for this for years. I see them in most of the older supermarkets and 'hardwares' in the malls but do not know how to source them locally. Found a hardware in Makati that sells each pegboard 4x8 for 2,500 pesos each, I saw only one sheet !! Too expensive. 🙁

Anyway, for me, no workshop should be without a basic pegboard !! I still am using my old local lawanit pegboard... 🙂
why even proper 1/4" lawanit is not available anymore...

Good thread this, thanks for the ideas.

after saying that each pegboard cost 2.5K 😮 and very hard to find  , do you still think no workshop should be without one?
IMO, I don't see any advantage a pegboard make on a well organized shop. pegboards are great if you keep changing the way things are located/stored or presented. hence it is great for supermarkets... :p

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

i see i see so i have confirmed my suspicion.

Regarding the deduction of size of the drawer width in relation to the carcass. meron bang rule of thumb cm deduction that is sure shot for botth bearing and roller type slides?

i also noticed roller type drawer guides are much more forgiving to un-squared carcass

For bearing type of slides I usually allow a space of 13mm for each side. This is when I use FGV brand of full ext drawer guides. I'm not sure if 12mm could work for other brands. Masikip kasi 12mm for FGV.

13mm... i hate working with really small tolerances 🙂

the other problem i have is measuring the drawer length width.... so when i assemble it it comes out right. hindi yung.... nakalimutan ko deduct yung two sides sa...so on and so forth.. Well thats just me and minro dyslexia i think 🙂

Ben, try using hardwood runners, this is actually the first time I used them intentionally and I am very happy... paraffin wax is best but Johnson's floor wax works for me...

Re: pls post pics of storage solution in your workshop

lumber rack ^_^. Made a rafter to the insulated ceiling. It won't get rained or be under the sun, but it should season.

The stairs go up to my workshop.
It looks rather few so maybe i should go out and get some more... there's TAS (tool aquisition syndrome) and then there's WAS (wood acquisition syndrome) after all...

Plywood and laminated veneer lumber on the left.

Langka, molave, narra, mango on the right. Amatuerish welding, but that's my craftsmanship for now. I got some shellac that's past the best-before-date so i used it to seal the ends.

I wonder what happened to the boards Moji took. Those were pretty good. I still think of them from time to time :p

Thanks for posting that. Some interesting ideas there, at least to get the brain cells working, on how to make things more flexible - operable - portable - multi-use.
